Music of Skyrim

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:04 am

Will there be a lot more tracks this time as oppossed to Morrowind and Oblivion? When I look at other RPG's sometimes their OST span 2 to 4 disc's.

Also, will Bethesda do anything to have specific music played at certain times, not just during combat. What I mean is....

When you enter into

A Captial City
A chapel/Church
Dungeon
When doing certain quests.

So that certain music would only be played and not just random tracks here and there. Will Bethesda do any silent tracks or anything along the lines of breakup so that music is not continually being played? I know people mod this but just wondering if Bethesda is going to change anything this time around.

111 views and now the first reply. I'm sure the Illuminati are behind that. :toughninja:

Anyway I hope Skyrim will get a huge amount of different music, because that's one of the things that can't get modded properly.

You can look up the skyrim demo without the commentary or there is a video with the music from the demo put into a video.

Quantity is not better than quality in this case. I think Bethesda's games have had enough many soundtracks before. It should also be noted that the quality of their soundtracks is amazing and probably one of the best in the whole business of video games.

I'm hoping for Daggerfall-level variety in the soundtrack, but with it composed by Jeremy Soule.

I hope it does..... Jeremy Soule did an amazing job with the music for the previous games that it almost makes me want to cry :cryvaultboy:. But anyway yes more music would be splendid.

you never played Morrowind or Oblivion more than 100 hours+, did you?
And I'm sure if Bethesda desides to do more soundtracks, the quality wouldn't suffer.

Sorry...I am going to mute the music once I start playing on Triple Elevensies. Not that I am tone deaf...no, I play rock n roll piano...but because I want to try playing it with no music, just sounds and voice.

I did ;)

Making many soundtracks cost money, so if they do more, something else suffers. That's life.
I'm happy with the quantity, considering that the quality is probably as good as it ever could get. Jeremy Soule is amazing.

They've got plenty of money now. They can afford to top Oblivion or at least Morrowind in soundtrack quantity.

Soule made Morrowind, Oblivion, and the game I've logged over 1000 hours in (without having played it since 2009), Guild Wars, the best video game experiences I have ever had.

The music and fit of that music within the world is my last concern. That is how good Soule's compositions and selections have been in my opinion.

I will say that I almost [censored] a brick when I heard 'Auriel's Ascension' when playing my PS3 goty edition after logging 250 hrs on xbox... the music could benefit from additional tracks.

This is off-topic, but have you ever heard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZRCY8-bfEY with the PS3 version in all your time playing it? I've been playing the PS3 version for nearly three years and haven't heard it once except for a brief time in the initial loading screen every time I boot up the game... but that's far too short to hear any of the song, really.
