MUSIC!

Aside from the main theme- what do you want for music?

also- some people dont want battle music (or was it town/dungeon music?). do you agree with them?

i think music should meld perfectly with the current music. imagine two sets of music- one is the other but more violent with different instruments.

your walk through the wilderness

the normal song is ting tang tong song wing gong ting tang tong song wing gong.

as you walk through the wilderness...

ting tang tong song wing (under attack) GONG TING TANG-(attacker is killed)-g tong song wing gong.

if that explanation didnt get to you. i basicly dont want another song to play when i get attacked by a pathetic enemy. i want the song to start to sound different, and revert to what it was after battle.

but, for the EPIC BATTLES something like castle crashers (without the techno) would be fantastic (and castle crasher's music is largely from independent guys- but please dont get intellectual property- only rights to play the song)

rage of the champions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKFEIkz-c2s
how the song is meant to be heard http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/90532

also- we need to be able to make npcs play instruments- i must give an npc in the street this song

I want Jeremy Soule again. I also always delete battle music from the game's dirs. Hope the new engine structure allows me this and to copy my own desired music in.

I want to hear some more unusual music.

If a spider jumps at me from nowhere, I want to hear sharp violin plucking, some deep drum beats etc.

Out in the wilderness, at different times, I want to hear some deep bugle horn, some light pan flute, some cello, I dunno, just a bunch of different ones. There's a bit too much violin in Oblivion.

Even though it's not really norse, I think this sort of instrument could be used to make good Nordic sort of sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OobGiOnMG8

I liked Oblivion's music, but am I the only one that felt like it was too short and would repeat over too much? So it eventually would become tiresome. Another thing was after the fight music it would always play this one piece. And since one was getting into fights frequently, it would always play.

There's no need for an extreme amount of new music, if at times it would just give it a rest before going back into the music.

I don't want clam, happy music, suddenly changing to death marching when an enemy sees me before I see it.

Though, no matter how good the music is, chances are I will play with it off anyway.

I like to immerse myself. Unless I am in a tavern with a band playing, why would I hear music everywhere I go? Magical iPods?

You... disable... the... music?

Oh man.

I was listening to the Oblivion and Morrowind soundtracks while working the other day and it's unbelievably warming. Just reminds of walking around the lands and all the good memories of both games. Seriously, Soule's music is fantastic. I'm surprised to see people wanting "changes".

Something bearded, tribal and dark with lots of cold thump to capitalize on the Norse-inspired setting like Alanis Morissette.

I don't want music constantly playing. Sure, every now and then for important parts of the MQ or side quests, but generally I'd rather we had some atmospheric sound effects to listen to. The crackling of a fire, wolves howling somewhere in the distance, the occasional flutter as a bat passes by... this would do more to create atmosphere than any musical soundtrack could.
