My music

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 11:15 pm

I will be streaming live music here: http://j-tv.me/eS3UJG

Stop by and give it a listen. I'll mix in some of my music, with other my famous electronic music.

I've also taken up making music. Been doing it for a bout 2 years.

Just now really ready to release anything I've made.

Anyway, On to the music.

My newest, http://soundcloud.com/baustinwashere/juno-gladiator
This is a dance track. My first serious try at a more up-beat happy song.
I'm slowly learning to mix/master, but it still might not sound good on all sound systems.

I dont think theres anything in the rules about posting music so you're good :P

Well, I dont go to clubs much (never been to one) but I appreciate loud, big bass so this is something I could see being played at a club or something. Very good :D

I listened to all three. I liked "Sword" the best. I can almost envision what your Playlist in FL Studio looks like as I listen. I've spent some time in that program. You use the space in your breakdowns well, I like the synth fills, accelerated kick stabs, and the filter sweeps (?). We can talk shop if you'd like, and share tips and tools. Nice work. Keep at it.

Thanks :]

I'd be up for that, hit me up.

I'm still learning a lot. FL Studio is a pretty complex piece of software.

I really like all three. My only complaint is that the second song felt a bit repetitive.

To what extent do you make your own sounds (not the stock FL stuff)? Though I don't have enough experience with FL to actually recognize this, I've heard others complain about "stock" sounds in music by people using FL.

I use preset sounds from various VSTI's and tweak them to my liking normally.

Sometimes i make my own, or layer samples.

Just depends.

The second song is quite repetitive, i made that one pretty quickly. :]

I have a friend who makes similar music. But it's not really my thing. I prefer the more electro/house kind of stuff. :)
I don't know how to judge the songs really, but they're better than what I've heard of my friend anyway.

I like the first one, it's got some interesting ideas and patterns. Sword is a bit too house-y for me, I prefer my dubstep darker usually. Evil Resident is a cool start to a track - can see where you're trying to go - but it could go somewhere really cool with some more work, it's basically just the drums and that one synth/bass-line at the moment and it seems a bit empty.

EDIT: Also, minor thing, but that "bass" sample you keep using is waaaaaaay too cheesy for how this should sound :P Or at least, it's the wrong kind of cheesy. You want something like "Finally, the angels fell..."

Maaan, Vex'd sends chills down my spine, and your first track reminds me a bit of him, so you can't be going too far wrong :P

No I mean the sample where the guy says "bass!" with lots of echo. It's on two of the tracks.

Sword reminds me a lot of the rave scene in Blade. I love it - It's got a real awesome head banging beat, a little repetitive but that's a good thing.

Added another song to the OP.

Getting better me thinks. Need feedback though.

Thinking of trying to sell this stuff on itunes.

Certainly getting better, though, personally I'm still finding your tracks a bit too generic.

Also, with Juno Gladiator, once the song starts up, drop the opening synth background noise IMO. Getting a heaver bass line in there to replace it. It really ties into the above in the fact that it makes the song sound way too similar throughout.

Certainly on the ups, though, good work.

I agree with them being generic. I don't know much about making melodies or anything like that. Still learning. Plus, I think i don't spend enough time per song.

I had a hard time finding a good bass sound for that, and I'm not so great at making bass. Other than sub/wobble bass.
