Music of the future

Post » Sun Jul 25, 2010 11:44 pm

What the mainstream music? I guess some techno or the variants people make up.

I have no idea.

But plenty of people will listen to whatever they like. I mean I like to listen to some classical, so there, people will still listen to Hammer Time.

Wish I had a clip to that one futurama video.

Should make less subjectless sentences. Are confusing. Anyway, should listen to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Youth. Are good.

I will HOLD THE LINE!!!! On my beliefs of subjectless material/media of all kinds. Muahahaha!

You won the small toss, but I won the meta toss. Muahahahah. Okay I'm going to stop now before I get warned for spamming.

Even worse. A combination of Yoda and Mordin. Hahahahah.

A monotonous beat with people saying yo yo yo over and over again for 3 minutes.

or baby instead of yo yo yo.

speaking of the B. what does people here think is more influencial: record lables or pop culture?

Pop culture. That's why, no matter what genre, whatever is popular gets a million clones that all sound the same. So, IMO, pop culture leads record labels to clone artists.

There was nothing meta about the discussion...

Anyway, those who haven't heard anything they liked since 2000 should check out http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2009/11/the-best-albums-of-the-decade.html?p=5 (link takes you to the fifth page showing #10 to #1, go back for the rest of the list).

Why am I not surprised I don't have any of those albums.

If the majority of dubstep is anything to go by, it won't be normalized. :shakehead:

Thankfully however, I don't think older genres - you know, back when music actually had defined genres - will be forgotten entirely. I pretty much exclusively listen to 60s-80s music, and it does my heart good to know that these songs are still widely popular today, if only because of the Grand Theft Auto series which seems to be quite good at giving younger generations an obsession with the past. You won't believe how many anecdotal comments I've seen on YouTube videos of 80s music, where people as young as 13 years attribute their initial discovery of oldies to playing Vice City. :P

By which standards?

his apparently, but I have to agree. the indie scene might get better but even I get ....... chills from some of the more emotional or just plain random indie bands that seem to float to the top. I have heard some okay but nothing that matches my appatite for music

Friday? Friday? I don't think auto tune has any thing to do with whats wrong with that song, I am pretty sure even in spoken word it would just be the worst.

EDIT: removed expletive... I did not know that word was blocked, its just a femine product.

While niche music will continue to change according to tastes, mainstream music will have been dumbed down to the point where it consists of 3 minutes of a man farting into a microphone.

mainstream having to be dumbed down? I thought that was what was happening in the last decade, the decade of canned pop stars like from american idol.

I dunno, but judging from the fact that I'll be older, I'll probably hate it and how it's corrupting the minds of the youth.

Even if I don't really hate it, I'm going to pretend to hate it just on principle that it's the way it was intended.

Well I wouldn't feel so much ire for mainstream music, except it's the only kind that gets piped out into streets, train stations, shops and the phones of morons, where I have to listen to it. Newsflash people! there is other music out there apart from hiphop and soft rock!

oooooooooo soft rock you are so on notice. blech!

I thought younger people were more musically intollerent, sure back in the 40's and 50's parents were intollerent but most modern advlts grew up listening to alot of different types of music. I remember not liking much of any music at all, but they more I listen the more artists I begin to apreciate. and now some stuff I used to hate has really grown on me.

What the [censored] is soft rock?

Also, you're all forgetting R'n'B. That's pretty mainstream these days as well.
