Music & the variety thereof

Fallout 3, arguably, introduced a great new feature to Fallout in the form of the radio.

Hate him or love him, Three-Dog brought atmosphere to the game with his chit-chat about current events and the music in between.

New Vegas continued along this line, bringing more music, new DJs.

Fallout 4 will without a doubt stick to this concept.

However, while the music is certainly a great contribution, it's also somewhat limited in scope and variety. I understand the limitations - for one, a lot of the classics require licensing and fees and to have the proper "Fallout feeling" the music needs to fit the overall 1950s theme.

But does it? I mean what's to keep from having some low-key guitar player just strumming along in the world space somewhere, sitting around a campfire. Doesn't have to feel 1950-ish. The world of music generally has popular trends, but that doesn't exclude all other music from existing at the same time. Classical music could/should still be around.

Thoughts?

And as a bonus thought. I'd love for the ability to include music from Fallout 3 and New Vegas into the FO4 playlists. To extend the life-time of the radio ("Oh god, not that song again already!") and to cash in on fond memories from past games.

They will only add what "fits" to the game. Classical music doesn't fit at all. In my opinion, a much better option (haven't really played Fallout 3 and New Vegas except a couple of times at friend's, so maybe the option is already there) would be to have the ability to change to a personal "station" where music played would be that from a custom folder.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to a Three Dog reappearance...so long as he tones down the over the top performance of FO3. That just got downright annoying, and when New Vegas came along and gave us Mister New Vegas, that was like a breath of fresh air.

As for actual music, it doesn't necessarily have to be from the 30-50's, so long as it fits the theme. It certainly shouldn't exclude musicians whose careers began before the split, and continued even after it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2VCwBzGdPM. Imagine the irony of this tune playing on the radio as you watch the bombs dropping from your kitchen window.

Well, Agatha in FO3 had classical music (which you could argue didn't fit the theme, but was quite haunting and eiree), I couldn't really describe Enclave Radio as 50s since wasn't most of it composed in the 19th century? And GNR, most of the music was actually from musicals from the 30s and 40s. I believe New Vegas played more fast and loose with the period having some music from the 60s in ... though there are genres from the 60s that could in theory fit the 50s theme such as Surf (though considering we are in an East Coast city might not be the best option). And some actual 50s music such as Doo Wop and Rock 'n' roll.

Hell, I wouldn't be adverse to the existance of a Pirate Raidio featuring "post war" music more fitting of the raiders' 80s punkesque look.

I have a feeling we might get something from the Boston Pops. It is an Icon of Boston and I think the music will fit in nicely.

Maybe "Sweet Caroline" will be in the game since that song is played at Fenway in the 8th inning for quite some time now.

I think it was my eventual hatred for hearing Butcher Pete popping up as often as it did on my playthroughs that pushed me to mod my game for the first time with the Expanded GNR mod. I don't see why they wouldn't include music from FO3 and NV since they were able to use them already. With that said, while normally I don't play games with the sound enabled (Old habit I got into), the Fallout ones I will throw a headset on for just because I do like the music.
