Crassbows? Bows that sling insults at people?

The funny thing is that in TES lore that actually would make significantly more sense than guns.

Again, no. I think we've reached the limit for guns-in-skyrim threads now. You can stop, really.

The fact is, you're saying exactly why I would make a terrible moderator. These folks have the patience of saints to not just immediately and without warning perma-ban anyone who starts "there is a feature in this game I didn't personally ask for! ruined FOREVER!" and "we wants guns" and 'scans plox" threads.

PS: It's also why I would make a terrible parent.

PPS: I liked Fallout 3 enough for an Oblivion style RPG with guns, and I very much like Fable I and Fable III, if you want a fantasy with muskets and flintlock pistols, just play Fable III. It's not nearly as bad as people here make it out to be, even though it's features would be awful in the context of TES.

Part of the ES magic comes from it's medieval sword&magic fantasy setting. I say keep it that way. The most I'm willing to go with as far as "realistic" ranged weapons are concerned are crossbows, throwable weapons and bows.

Infact maybe we could make a list of ways to say no:

No, no way, no way hosay, never ever, nein, nicht, nei, nej, inte, engin, nada, нет, geen, pas, ei, keine.

That should make it understandble in most european countries^^

I dont know any polish, italian or serbian language etc, but you come a really long way with russian, deutsch and english.

Muskets weren't invetned for a long long time after gunpowder. Even assuming they started firearms development, they would still be using hand cannons or at best arquebuses.

Eurrrrrh... did you say they came close in Morrowind with crossbows? They didn't... crossbows have existed since ancient times.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastraphetes. Although I won't miss them in a nordic environment...

then, people, tell me why crossbows? I mean, the best argument I saw was that guns are useless because of magic. It would be totally useless to have it when you can cast a fireball anyway. Fair enough, good point actually.
But then... crossbows? I mean... come one... what difference does it makes between this and a gun except that it's way less cool?

I don't think anyone has said guns are useless, if you gave modern guns or even 19th century muskets and artillery to them they would be very powerful.

But early guns were probably far inferior to magic at doing things early guns could do, so there wouldn't be a big push to develop these weapons that don't work as well as magic.

Crossbows are vastly more accurate than early guns (and many even hit harder at long range), and don't take such a huge tech upgrade to produce more advanced versions.

I think because a musket would open a pandora's box. We wouldn't be able to close it. Muskets become pistols, become rifles, become revolvers, ....

Best just leave it closed. Plus, crossbows aren't terrible complicated, they're are actually down right simple.

Plus, plus, crossbows are exactly one square cooler than muskets.

after reading wat there doing with incresing the power of the bows for the basicly the one-hit-kill, why dont they just go for it and include low tech firearms? there advancing far enoug h into the future with skrim to allow for use of firearms liek muskets and flint lock pistols. they came close enough in morrowind with crassbows. to avoid ppl taking advantage of it tho they should be relaistic and make it basicly one-hit kill for anything but make it so that it takes forever to relaod. dont get me wrong, im not saying we should have machine guns, but low tech weapons like muslet wouldn't be to bad!

I have never before seen such an obvious troll attempt.

Crossbows are cooler... and silent, unlike a gun.

I can see them fitting guns in through some dwemer lore but still it sounds a bit far fetched. Crossbows on the other hand make sense in a medieval fantasy setting.

this defies all lore in the Elder Scrolls universe.

I always thought that the cryptic note on the pirate ship at the Waterfront in Oblivion was a maintenance guide on how to service a rudimentary pistol. I could be wrong, mind, but I wasn't sure what it was. Could be a cannon I guess... I had an amusing idea for a story hinging on a "Glass cannon" earlier. :P

Anyway, I'd be against their addition personally. I like the tone and theme that's here at the moment, so far as weapons go. Well. Mostly. Could use more spears - crossbows I could take or leave. Not really bothered.

}{ellKnight - Crossbows aren't silent. Not by a long shot.

Not even as A joke the only thing about elder scrolls most people can stand behind and agree on is that guns DO NOT AND SHOULD NEVER become a part of this game or any other built in the elder scrolls realm, thats what fallouts for or Fable.

If elder scrolls brought guns in I would stop buying them period forever no questions.....just look how its destroyed the fable universe.
