Must have magic mods!

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 10:53 pm

Im looking for some good magic mods. Im looking for some that add a new way of using magic or just a mod that contains spells that are lore friendly but add features never seen in a TES game.

Right now im using:

Midas Magic
Fearsome Magicka
Duke Patricks Combat Magic II

Any others like those mods you can recommend? Links please.

I've always been a fan of LAME. Reorganizes the vanilla spells, and adds some cool new ones. Surpreme magicka is another good one, but I don't have a need for it as well. I think mighty magic was another common one?

Well the three that you mention are basically an alternative to vanilla magic.

If you want to overhaul vanilla spells (making them more powerful/durable/useful) try supreme magicka or LAME. You cannot get more lore-friendly than that.

If you want new ways of using magic, try "Doc Magic': http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23813
This a not very well known mod that offers interesting possibilities such as: deflect and send back incoming magic projectiles, increase/decrease the speed of a magic projectile etc.

I used supreme magicka for 5 secs, after i noticed how much weaker it made all my spells i was like "**** this!" But i used to use it.
I should maybe try LAME again, i used it for a while but i didnt notice too many changes.
As for Doc Magic, i downloaded it a few days ago but never tried it, didnt really like the idea of using rings for magic.

Supreme Magicka is not supposed to make your spells weaker. If anything, they will be slightly more powerful. I remember having some problems with SP the first time I tried it. I mananged to solve them all by looking at the ini file. SM is very customizable so, if there is something you don't like about the mod, there is a good chance that it can be fixed by messing with the .ini

About LAME, the most noticeable thing it does is making the duration of defensive spells longer. As much as 4 times longer actually. Also, it adds some new spells for you to play with. Some are pretty useful.

Another option that I forgot to mention is 'conduit magic'. This mod is not about adding spells or modifying the existing ones. what it instead does is to allow you to enchant your weapons with yout spells on the fly. So for example if you have a spell of fire damage 5 points selected and your equipped weapon is a sword, you can channel the power of the spell into the sword to deliver 5 points of fire damage with each blow. Tha magicka you spent is discounted from your magicka bar.

Also, you can use many of these together, but when they affect the same thing it will just be a matter of load order. If you use lame and supreme magic then have the one you want to affect the vanilla spells load last.
