MW3 and Skyrim.

I have not played CoD black OPs but the three I own Modern warfare 1&2 and world at war were all well done games with very good game play, but had very short single player story lines. However, Modern Warfare 1 so far has really been the only one that seems to have added new semi genre changing game play to the Series( Crisis 1 was still better that MW1 though imo). The rest seem to follow the same cookie cutter design and despite being well done they lack innovation.

Bethesda could easily have made another ElderScrolls game after Oblivion and maybe 2 if they followed the CoD formula. Had they just done some graphic improvements a few tweaks and pumped out mostly an improved Oblivion in a Different setting Skyrim could easily be The 6th or even 7th installment in the series. However Bethesda builds each game with from the ground up brand new and different FAR different from the other. The Elderscrolls cannot work on the same formula in a different setting, CoD can or at least for now still sells. I mean I like CoD games and they could do a VERY good and revolutionary shooter if Activision allowed them to have say 3 years to make one but $$$ make that franchise go round and if people buy and love a game a year from CoD they will make it. RPG fans in general and especially die hard TES fans would never go for that approach which is why they have no problem waiting 4-5 years for a new game from Bethesda.

CoD out sells every game, cross platform it is likely that MW3 will outsell any game to date. However the effect of that on Skyrim sales will be minimal, Skyrim will in the long scheme of things very well. The elderscrolls is a very popular game franchise now. I remember when I played everquest 1 for 6 months( vomit inducing to think about it now) And I'd mention Morrowind to people as THE game I was looking forward to even though it was still in developement with only some concept art and rumors about it and they'd have no clue what that was and even when I'd explain it was the the sequel to Daggerfall only 3 out of 10 MAYBE even knew that game. Now days everyone almost knows of Morrowind and especially Oblivion so Skyrim will be on most gamers to get lists. It will not do CoD sales but not even Halo any PS3 exclusive or even GTA for that matter can beat CoD sales. The date will stay the same I think and Skyrim regardless will sell just fine and will have a life that will be full years after people have stopped playing MW3.

MW3 will svck hard, you have to worry more about BF3, but tbH, I will buy both, Skyrim for SP and Battlefield for MP.
Imagine how awesome it would be if Skyrim will sell better than Call of [censored], so that the Ranking is BF3, Skyrim, and then MW3 ^^

I don't think Modern Warfare 3 will do any harm to Skyrim sales. Myself and almost everyone I know that plays COD games will never buy a COD game again. Don't get me wrong, I think COD games are extremely fun but thats when they actually work and dont have lag issues which seems to be the case for alot of people and makes the game to annoying to play. My guess is alot of people will be hesitant on buying MW3.

First I seen this post I was going to swear and rant because I thought this post is going to compare these two games. As I read through, it is all about sales. Who bleeding cares that MW3 sells more then Skyrim. Lets see who are true RPG's players. I hope that Beth don't have cold feet and release this game early or later like BioWare done with ME3. Find out later that Skyrim (fingers cross) is a better game then MW3. Though they are two completely different games one of the games took longer to develop then the other. I perfer waiting longer for a good game to be made then waiting tomorrow for a crappy one.

@ Gromm. The only COD games I like are COD/UO, COD2, COD4 MW and COD WAW. After what Activision and IW done with the PC players with MW2 dumping PC with consoles in Multi-players and other things stuff them. Lucky I waited.

Pretty much anyone who has played the last 4 or 5 CoD games could've told you that it'd be released on Nov. 8. It's become standard to release CoD on the second Tuesday of November so you can rest assured that Bethesda wasn't surprised by the announcement.

Beth probably were expecting a new CoD in November, but 3 days before Skyrim is probably not what they were anticipating. They were probably thinking November 15th, the Tuesday after. Not before.

Well, that would have gone against the last 4 releases, with CoD4 being a week earlier, so it wouldn't make much sense for them to think that.

I'm just being paranoid, I can't help it. I was devastated when Oblivion was released. I'll be a wreck if Skyrim doesn't release on 11.11.

Religious discussion is a taboo topic on these forums.

I like to live on the edge and push the limits of discussion. Not meant to provoke religious discussion, just a play on the world ending before Skyrim/MW3 release. That would be below par...

And I like to warn and suspend folks that push over the edge of the limits and we have a zero limit on religious discussion here. I have deleted your post and will warn for further religious discussion from you. :toughninja:

I think it's better for Skyrim to be stacked against CoD than Mass Effect. ME3's delay means that Skyrim will pretty much have a lock on the holiday release window for RPGs, and I have no doubt that it will sell well.

Also, both Fallout 3 and New Vegas released within weeks of CoD titles, yet both still managed to garner high sales. The games are different enough that the number of "either or" customers will likely be small.
