Yeah, I don't think it'll make much difference. The people psyched for Skyrim will buy it anyway, and so will those who want MW3. If people want both enough then it'll be an expensive month.
Two completely separate genres of video games. If MW3 reduces Skyrim's sales, it will only be temporary. People will come back to buy Skyrim later once they get the money
Fan-bases are becoming very vague nowadays, especially since most games are crossover genres, even if they are "different", both are big games nevertheless.

The Elder Scrolls series has a very well established and loyal fanbase, as does the Call of Duty series. Of course there's a lot of crossovers... but I really don't see an Elder Scrolls fan looking at the release date of MW3 and deciding never to purchase Skyrim.
But something has to give, MW3 is releasing 3 days before Skyrim does
So?
So is Skyrim going ahead for the eleventh?
Why wouldn't it?
November has been jam-packed with "big releases" for years now. Having other big titles release the same week as Skyrim shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. And the whole "11/11/11" thing isn't something you'd move away from, not for something trivial like "OMG! Another game the same week!"
