MWE messed up my game.

Post » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:52 pm

Well at first I had no problem with using the utility and it made some very handy mods possible...
But later I began to notice that often my save files weren't able to load... It were to many to be suddenly corrupted, I didn't add any new mods and Wrye Mash didn't notice any problems with the files.. After some "explorations" i noticed that the save files did work without MWE active I decided to disable the MWE_base mod and every mod (I knew off) that used a MWE function... but suddenly the game crashed after I loaded a file with the notice that some kind of expresion in some kind of MWE script couldn't be found....
I looked at the readme and I was so happy to find nothing about uninstalling the thing nor any solution for the save issue.
So... How can I either solve the save-issue or uninstall MWE..... I'd prefer having the save-issue solved... But I just wanna play again.

Have you tried a "repair all" on the save with Wrye Mash after removing MWE and all MWE mods?

When did it crash exactly? Can you load a save and create a clean save before the crash? A clean save would remove any orphaned scripts.

And, do you have "YesToAll" active in the morrowind.ini?

Yes, doesn't seem to work. This is the error: (@DWS: The error occurs before the savefile is fully loaded around the Initializing Data phase of the save file)

Expression Error Unable to find dialogue id
"MWE_LoadIndex" in script
HO_MWE_ListenUpdate.

Could this mean that there is a mond wich unknownly runs on MWE?

@DWS.
Yes, I already have that function active... but I do wonder what that has to do with the problem?

It should work if you remove all mods that depend on MWE. It looks like you still have a mod that depends on MWE. My guess is that HO_MWE_ListenUpdate is from Horatio's NPC Enhanced mod. Is that still in your active load order?

If that's not it, you might still be able to find the mod by using an application like InfoRapid Search to search your plugins for the string "HO_MWE_ListenUpdate". If you are still stuck, post your load order.

If it is NPC Enhanced there's always http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7981 which lets you use this mod with MWSE rather than MWE.... it's what I use (MWSE plus NPC Enhanced) and it works really well.......... NPC Enhanced is also just about my fav mod. B)

What? Why would it? MWSE even comes bundled with MGE. You can disable the bundled version and use a different version if you want.

Why would they ever conflict???

With YesToAll some of the later (also in-game) errors and warnings can be skipped if you click cancel on the first one. Not in this case, though.
