Mynthel

There's a thread over in Oblivion General where we post what our characters have been up to, and since I've recently created another one, I thought it would be nice to write down his adventures. Instead of a story format, I think this will be more of a log of where he's been and what he's been doing, with more detail than I post in the general thread.

I created the character intending just to do the Shivering Isles expansion (I've not played through the questlines there) then retire him, but ended up working out a backstory for him anyway, so I think he's going to become a permanent fixture.
There will be Shivering Isles spoilers along the way as he undertakes quests- just a warning.

Name- http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/Lady-Mara-2/Mynthel.jpg
Race- Wood Elf (male)
Story- Mynthel was raised by goblins after being snatched as a baby. He has spent most of his life in a cave and has seen sunlight only a few times, hence his unusual appearance. (The picture doesn't show it very well but his hair is white.) Most of his life he has been haunted by dreams of butterflies and colourful skies. These butterflies started talking to him in his dreams, telling him to do things, and he went insane, murdering his goblin shaman and mounting his head on a staff. He escaped the cave and followed the butterflies to a strange doorway in the Niben bay, where he entered the Shivering Isles without a second thought. He became mesmerised by the plants and skies and wants to see more of this colourful world.

Mynthel managed to defeat the Gatekeeper with the aid of a huntsman named Jayred. He chose the Mania door and was amazed by the colours on the other side. A little way up the road two Golden Saint guards were waiting. As he joined them they started walking, and as he didn't know the Isles, he followed them. This was a good move as a few creatures and a man dressed in blue robes attacked them as they went by. Mynthel did not have very good armour, wearing only a few pieces of leather he had found in the goblin cave before making his way to the Shivering Isles.

The Golden Saint guards escorted him half of the way to New Sheoth, then Mynthel left the road to explore some plants in a lake and he lost them. After what he'd seen though, he felt better about dealing with any other trouble that came his way. He stumbled upon the small town of Split, where there seemed to be two of everybody. They all kept talking about some hill of suicides, so he went to see it. As far as Mynthel could tell, it was just a bunch of ghosts standing about on top of a hill. This side of the realm seemed more grey and dangerous than the side he had come from, and it made him restless, so he carried on up the road until he got to New Sheoth.

BY AZURA, BY AZURA, BY AZURA! Haven't been 'round The Shivering Isles for a bit -- heck, I haven't touched my PS3 for a while. Anyways, on with your story of the MQ in SI. You could say it's a new thing. We don't see many fanfics on about the Shivering Isles around here. There were two others, but that's all I can remember. Also, Mynthel is one good-lookin' Bosmer. For some reason, he reminds me of a character in The Night Angel Trilogy. But whatevs. I'm ranting, aren't I?

Yes. Yes I am. And I ain't even sayin' much 'bout your log. I like it, but it could use more description. Then again, this is a log, not a story. I'm not sure exactly how logs are meant to be. Other than that, I look forward to the swashbuckling adventures of Mynthel.
