Myst Series Music Pack for Oblivion and BetterMusicSystem

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:49 pm

Having been an avid Myst fan before I discovered the Elder Scrolls, I was always so in love with its mesmerizing and often haunting soundtracks. For a long while now I've been using a lot of these pieces in my Oblivion game in place of the regular soundtrack. No, I don't hate Jeremy Soul - I'm a huge fan of his work in Morrowind - its Oblivion's music which at first was beautiful and pastora, but has now after 4 years outstayed its welcome, so I needed a change. Today I suddenly thought "Hey! I wonder if anyone else would appreciate the haunting music of Myst in Oblivion?". So I made this quick music pack.

The folders are already organized with BetterMusicSystem in mind, however for those who don't have it, you may use the Explore and Public folders I added. The Dungeon music is already in the Locations folder.

The games these tracks are taken from are Myst, Riven, and Exile. The composers are Jack Wall and Robyn Miller.

Also of note: I've included a folder for the up and coming Hammerfell mod with some tracks from Civilization V. These are not the project's final tracks, but are rather for one's own personal use while the mod is in development.

EDIT:
Removed for verification of licenses.

You have to either get permission from the original composers/authors, or find that the license of the songs enables free use - otherwise, Bethesda will get very angry with you! It's in the rules, you see. In fact, there may be a mod surveying this topic in a vulture-like manner right now! Circling slowly down, waiting to make the kill... or whatever vultures do.

Ok, I didn't know. I'll take it down and double check.

Yali: can you list the tree structure you prepared for the music pack? That may help others organize their myst music accordingly?

Something like

ExploreFilename1.mp3
Dungeon\Filename2.mp3 etc.?

Thanks, :)
