Mysterious message behind Shadowmere?

Post » Mon Aug 13, 2012 5:42 am

OK, so me and my friends were messing around with a voice changing software and were playing out voices backwards, we started a Skyrim conversation and brought up Shadowmere, played backwards it came out Rainbow Dash, and if you say Rainbow Dash, it of course, came out as Shadowmere.

Not sure if this has been brought up before or what, but I was wondering if there are other things like this around and about in Skyrim, they dont have to be somehow related to ponies, even though it's really cool that Shadowmere backwards does sound like Rainbow Dash.

No like if you SAY it, like get a program and with your voice say Rainbow Dash, once the computer repeats it backwards, it sounds like Shadowmere, all I can say is try it for yourself, I might just be hearing things.

Why would Bethesda name their dark horse after a pony from a show nobody really cares about? (IIRC, Shadowmere was created in Oblivion, which was made in 2006, way before MLP even got popular)

Besides, Dahs does not sound like Dash in any way. I think this is a case of straw grasping, but that is my opinion.

It kinda sounds like it, but I don't really see how this is a secret message. Like Oreo pointed out, Shadowmere's been around since 2006 (Oblivion).

I might be just hearing things, but I swear every time I say Shadowmere it sounds like Rainbow Dash when played back at me, and yea and I questioned why Bethesda would do something like that too, it does seem far fetched. Then again Rainbow Dash was around before G4 so....i'dunno, im not sure if she was around before Oblivion though.

Edit: P.S I also used the wrong choice of words saying it was a hidden message, should have said odd little possible Easter egg? I dunno, just thought it was really intresting.

The spelling is not what matters! All that matters is the sounds.

It can't be an easter egg unless the developers knew about Rainbow Dash. Was Rainbow Dash around back in 2006? Otherwise it was just a coincidence.

Wish i had a microphone to confirm this :(

Im checking right now...

Yep, Rainbow Dash was in generation 3 which started in 2003, so she was around at the time, since it was only earth ponies up until 2005 she was probably in the first 2 years of that generation, seeing as Rainbow Dash is an Earth Pony in G3.

This reminds of video I've seen of people reversing popular music to find hidden messages. But there were no legit messages. You heard whatever the youtuber wanted you to hear by reading the words they put in the video.

Check out some video on youtube and listen to it without watching it. Try to make out the words yourself. Chances are, you can't make out anything. But when you watch it with the youtuber's own interpretation, all of a sudden you hear what they want you to hear. Try it. I think it's just the power of suggestion and our own screwed up brain's fetish for illusions.

I actually have done that before, and now that you've compared that with this I feel dumb xD

Hmmm, oh well, I guess we cant really confirm anything about it, and I could just be hearing things and then when others come along they read my post and go try it for themselves and hear the same thing, I just thought it was really interesting that "Shadowmere" played reversed sounded like "Rainbow Dash" and I brough it here, and the brain goes and does its fetish thing when other people go to try it.

Well that was interesting....

No, no, no, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that you probably haven't discovered an easter egg or hidden message. I don't want you to take my comments the wrong way, what you found is definitely interesting, I just wouldn't give the developers that much credit :P

Any sound played backwards sounds like something else. The mind is a tricky little world. People see the Virgin Mary in their breakfast toast, too. :)
