mystic archer

Apologies if I've missed it somewhere but, having heard a lot about Buffy as a mystic archer, would you mind telling me how the original is set up? What are Buffy's majors, specialisation and attributes? There are clues in your replies but I'll be intrigued to know.

Apologies to doommeister if you feel I'm hijacking your thread but have always wanted to know but was a little shy to ask in a new post.

I am humbled and honored at you interest in my little elf. :)

Buffy is of a Bosmer mother (so per TES lore, she looks like and is a Bosmer). Her father however, was a Breton vampire hunter.

Her birthday is Rains Hand, the 19th, 3E 415. That means she was born with the mage birthsign and is about 18 at the start of her game.

Her specialization is stealth (although magic would be just as good), and her favored attributes are agility and inteligence.

Her major skills are quite eclectic and I will make minor tweaks/revisions when we someday restart her. Her choices are all about capping her at level 20. We limit her to level 20 because we do not care to give her foes more hitpoints, and Buffy cares nothing for leveled quest reward items; in fact the only quest item she carries is Azura's Star. So let me describe what I would do:

I. Marksman and restoration. Max these and thereby achieve about level 15.

II. Security. Use this freely while progressing to level 20. At level 20, never touch it again, in favor of using alteration for opening things.

III. The following 4 major skills are to be never touched. This is the meat of how she intentionally will never level above 20: Speechcraft, H2h, Blunt, Blade.

Attibute note. You will notice she has all three strength skills as majors that she will never use. This works fine for her. She will never add a single point to strength or enduarance or luck. This is because she is intentionally a vulnerable glass cannon. Ignoring some attributes also makes it easier to pump up the important ones effectively since she only has 20 levels to get her attributes where she wants them. She could certainly ignore personality as well, but for RP reasons she does not.

The 'capabilities' that make her sing are: Detect life, marksman, sneak, poisons, weakness to poison, drain speed, mind control spells, invisibility when needed, blocking with her bow, homemade shield potions.

In summary, she is a specialized no-melee archer who uses magic (mostly illusion) to back herself up. She is very much an RP character and has plenty of carefully designed limitations. Nevertheless, she can handle anything in the game with some care and planning.

Acadian I was wondering as well is the level cap the only reason to take non skills as four of your majors? it's just I have in the past just reset my pc's level to 20 with the console.
I know many would consider this cheating, but the console can as you know be used for good as well if the point is to add to the role.

That is another path to capping your level, as would be never sleeping once you achieve your target level. Fine options. :)

I prefer my approach because Buffy is all about the slow-leveling marksman skill. The less majors she uses, the easier it is for her to get the 3 or 4 skill ups to marksman she wants each level to stay on par with her foes. I also find it helps leveling to progress nice and slowly, which we prefer. We like to savor what each level has to offer in terms of seeing foes using differing armors and weapons and the gradual changes to creature enemies. We average about 20 hours of play time for each level gain. Buffy indeed hit level 20 at around 400 hours; she now has about 500 total hours. :)

Lol no problem captain xD I wanted to know as well lol. I'm glad my setup is different from acadian. While buffy inspired my character, I didn't want an exact copy.

I'm not a deliberate efficient leveled, but I know I will get +5 in intelligence lol. I've used alchemy a bit too much. It's a minor skill, amd at level 40 lol
