Mythic Amber armor

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 7:02 am

It looks great so far. I like especially like the detail on the amber parts, it looks really... well, like amber, really, which is what I expect something called amber armor to look like. I just look forward to seeing how it looks in-game now.

Remember to add mosquitoes, and many other fossilized bugs as well.

:P

Just kidding, I actually like the design very much. I normally go heavy armor because of the madness ore gear, but this mod will surely make me start going light (unless you also retexture madness gear, then it will be a tough choice...) Oh my you already have!!!

Well I debated removing that mod (madness). It's just an alteration of vanilla textures with a few additions. Not really something I'd be proud to show off.

hey this looks great, I've never really done texture replacers before and I'm starting to get an itch to install QTP3 and other things of the like to pretty up my game. This will definately be an instant download when its finished. :)

Thanks. You should really look into them. They'll revitalize your game. I might be kind of biased though.

Going to work on the female meshes (pretty simple adjustments to the male cuirass and boot textures) then I'll see about the weapons.

Honestly I thought the vanilla Madness textures were already pretty good, so I don't think there's much to be ashamed of on this set.

In game pics up. Fraps pictures are always a bit underwhelming so rest assured everything looks more awesome in game.

Vanilla version just gets stuck in a box. Yours looks really nice, the ladies version is actually pretty.

Request that you can feel free to ignore, but could you possibly make an addon for the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18111 meshes, or at the very least, the helmet? I've never been able to use the Amber set because of the neon orange crown that it bequeaths onto the player :P

Oh, man, this is great. I knew about your Madness retextures but not this!

You're making me want to do hi-res retextures of all the vanilla equipment now, since while there are some decent retextures (notably the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27414), it's hard to find high quality retextures for all the equipment (unless I've overlooked some awesome pack). Maybe it's time I do the definitive version! So... with all of your experience retexturing, would you say it'd be possible for me to do this with my only skills being 1) I'm somewhat handy with the clone tool and 2) I have plenty of creativity... ? I can probably decipher the way textures are structured and I know how normal maps work. I've learned a few things from making my road texture. But I'm thinking it might be possible with enough time, trial, error, and google image search to make awesome versions of the vanilla equipment. Or perhaps there are enough individual retextures out there that my work would be unnecessary, I don't know.

Palidoo, if you're interested, I'd ask that you work on the Mithril and Orcish weapons in WEPON first. Ionis was the original author of those textures but they could use a lot more attention, starting with making the mithril weapons look like they go with mithril armor :)

Yay, a specific request. We'll see how good I am with the clone tool after all, ha ha. I'll give it a go and work at it until I've got something I feel is pretty good. I have a total of exactly one texture under my belt so I might end up banging my head against a wall a few times, but I've got high standards so whatever I give you should be pretty decent eventually. And if this goes well, perhaps that full set of hi-res vanilla retextures might be down the road. I can't be the only one with my inner obsessive nerd nagging about only half the equipment having quality hi-res textures. Which reminds me I should figure out what does exist and make a list. I spent way too much time searching tesnexus specifically for retextures of vanilla equipment and still have to go through what I downloaded (I do know that it's 90% glass, oh god). Anyway, this will be fun, and I have the extra margin of it not needing to be a recreation of an original vanilla item, hooray.

And this is a good excuse to finally install WEPON; if you look at my integrated item thread's now-quite-large list you'll see a total of 0 mods I currently have installed, haha. But dammit I'm going to bump that thing until I'm sure I've found every last possible item I can cram into my game's leveled lists.

Just a friendly "poke" to inquire where this project may be at. Since my character primarily uses Amber armor I'm very interested in its progress!

It's done ... more or less. I doubt I'll get around to doing the weapons (pity). So this should be seeing a release very soon.

I was wondering about the weapons, since I think BFG99 mentioned you had been working on them or were going to at one point, I forgot to ask you if you were still planning on doing them. Anyway it's fine since I'm going to take a stab at them eventually here. Well, once I get back to my home computer (out of town right now) I'm going to finally get started on Mithril and Orcish weapons, then try the Amber ones after seeing how that goes. (if BFG99 happens to be reading and wondering, hehe)
