[WIPz] Mythic Madness

You'll need to re-work the UV mapping of the mesh, that's pretty much the only way to really fix obvious seams.

Don't know if vertex paint would help seams or not on a creature, never tried it before, but if done right it might help.

Gnarl pictures up (in game) along with grummites in game. The mania glow tentacles on the grummite came out cool (pats himself on back) (...crickets...)

Dude, awesome! Just remembered having asked about this in your Ghosts and Goblins thread, and to find out you're already working on it is great. Since I've enforced a self-imposed ban on the eastern half of Cyrodiil (including the Isles) since starting playing the game about six months ago, and am just now exploring Cheydinhal (I've spent as much time obsessed with the mod community as I have spent playing), feel free to take your time, hehe. But I'm going to check back regularly to make sure you finish it! Better be done before I decide to head through that strange door!

Man, the Demented Grumite is incredible!
The Gnarl kind of reminds me of your Spriggan retexture, which is a great thing, since I adore that one.:)
Keep it up!

This is still being worked on, if anyone is curious. Splitting my time between this and the amber weapons (amber armor retex is done).

The baliwog is 50% completed.

Can't wait to get to the hunger and murk dweller.

*I've been texturing to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pr6AbJ9Ij0&feature=related for the last 2 hours. Andrew Bird is a genius.

Cool. I was prepared to bump the thread at some point in the future if I didn't hear any news, since I've got this thread open in a tab so I don't forget it. Also I always get Andrew Bird mixed up with Matthew Dear due to their fauna-sounding names despite making dissimilar music. Maybe they should join Animal Collective?? har harrggh

Yeah his music actually makes me think of Morrowind. I replaced the in game soundtrack with his instrumental stuff during my first real playthrough

Updated the Baliwog fin texture. The original was something I already used on the akatosh retex so I felt kinda guilty reusing it. The new version is a bit more interesting/colorful so I think it fits\

Guess this is going to be a regular segment (hey anything to keep me motivated).

I'm not totally sold on the Baliwog texture, it seems a bit... flat, I think, compared to the original. The original has a lot of muscle tone, wrinkles, etc. on the skin, is there a way to work that back into the updated texture? Aside from that, I love the detailing on the fins and gills (or whatever it has on its sides :P).

Yeah I agree completely. I'm going to go back and fine tune all the textures before release (which means adding muscle tone and depth). For now I just want to get everything put together.

Murk Dweller (Mania) wip pictures up. Tell me what you think. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. The scales are going to be glow mapped along with the back tentacles so they'll look "way more cooler(?)" in game. Still not completely sold on the concept. Again like the baliwog this has to be fine tuned (adding muscles and such).

Nice! I like how you didn't just go with the obvious choice of making it super bright and colorful. With the glowmapping, it should look awesome (or one might even say... mythic B))

I'm really compelled to reserve my judgment until I can see them in the game. Not just because of those simpler renders, but even actual in-game screenshots have made me think one thing only to think the opposite later. At least that was the case with your re-texture of the imp, which I thought was a bit too out-there in the screenshots but once I ran into a couple I didn't want to go back to the vanilla one. Haha, I don't trust myself to give good suggestions! But I guess there really are things like how the light interacts with the normal map and specularity and stuff that can only be fully appreciated with movement factored in.

See, I think I like the lighter one more, but this is a perfect example of not being able to trust myself until I see it in-game. I can see the darker one being better under certain lighting conditions.

I'll take that into account. ;) Working on the hunger. This should be fun.

The Lonesome Crowded West was one of my favorite driving albums back when I'd go on 5-6 hour car trips relatively frequently.

Assuming you're going to be posting in-game screenshots of the creatures at some point, I'd suggest taking shots of both the lighter and darker version of that particular creature (if it's not too much of a chore of course--er no, i mean, you should do them both under at least 10 different lighting conditions!). I really don't trust the simple renders, haha. It's a pretty minor thing though, and since your judgment's been excellent so far I could just as well ignore this thread and check it out when it's finished and end up being 10000000000% satisfied anyway, heh.

Progress.

Hunger texture complete (for the most part) pictures up.

In game pictures of the murk dweller up as well. There's a nice contrast between the new versions.
