[WIPz] Mythic Madness

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:28 am

I wasn't sold on the hunger until I saw it in game. Looks gorgeous :)

EDIT: Also, I just noticed in your OP that you said you saved these for last... do you have any plans to redo the horses, skeletons or the Aurorans/Umaril? :deal:

Wow, you've really outdone yourself with the Murk Dweller. I give it ten back-spike-things way up.

In other news, perhaps inspired by you I did http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36843 lolol. Some day when you have the time maybe you can try retexturing the road for me (I hate the QTP3 texture), since I'm sure yours would be better than mine is. Though I suppose something like that's simple enough I could come up with something nice if I found the right image and learned how to tile it.

Good to hear you're still working. I've got this thread open in a tab, so sometimes I'll randomly click over to it and wonder, haha.

Elytra mania pictures up. Still have to glowmap their butts (and some heads). In game they're actually .... kind of cute? All walking aorund in circles, blinking their multiple sets of eyes and twitching their antennas.

Think that's the sign I've had enough modding for tonight. Feel free to leave comments. :obliviongate:

Looks pretty great to me. But another reason I guess I'm not the best judge overall is the fact I haven't even been to the Shivering Isles yet. In fact I think I might be holding off entering the door until you finish this, haha. I don't know. Are you planning on doing the Flesh Atronach, Shambles, or skinned hound? Just going off of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Creatures. I'm guessing you're not doing the Knights/Priests of Order since they aren't creatures. Finally I'm also curious if you're planning on doing any more retextures after this, like for the Aurorans or something. I can see you making them extra awesome (not that I've even encountered them in the game yet). And it's not that you haven't already proven yourself to be the lord of all creature retexturing, I'm just curious how much of a completionist you want to be, heh. I wonder if I was in your position would I just be completely tired of doing textures, or would I have this nagging feeling, like "...but I can't leave out the painted trolls!!"

Palidoo: Yeah as of now I'm going to be doing the last 3 though the shambles and skinned hound should be a pain. I'd give SI atleast 1 playthough so you can appreciate the difference.

John123: Feeling a lot of pressure to get these done, just so you guys can play shivering isles.

Mania Elytra near finished.

Ha yeah take your time, like you just suggested I'm going to head there before installing your stuff just to appreciate the differences. Mostly what keeps me away from the Isles is just the glacial pace at which I'm playing the game. I left half of the cities of Cyrodiil unexplored for a long time just so it'd be something to look forward to later, and I'm doing the same thing with SI. Thankfully the vanilla game has plenty of quests to keep me occupied.

Looks good, and makes me want to reiterate what I said a while ago--what's great about your textures is that they're different enough from the original while still maintaining the "feel" of Oblivion. I guess you could call them reinterpretations of the original creatures. It's like when someone does a cover version of an already decent song, but changes it enough that the new version is its own thing with its own merits. There are plenty of retextures that are recolors or slightly tweaked versions of the originals, and at the other end there are retextures that depart so much from the original they don't really fit in the game world anymore. You've taken the more difficult, but far more rewarding path of reinterpreting them in a creative way, and it's probably why I'm a total f a n b o y here!! haha

Haha i try my best. I mostly just try to go the realism route while still being interesting.

So apparently there are two other versions of the hunger i didn't know about (cripes). I could just alter the colors in photoshop. But that would be cheating.

Looking forward to this. I have yet to visit SI in my game, even though I've had it since it came out (I am too content in Cyrodiil). But when i do, I am looking for some mythic madness :)

Update dump.

Light and Dark hunger added. Skeletal Hound and Shambles as well. Questions concerns, vitriolic rage?

I like the Hungers, but can't judge the Skinned Hound until I see it in a more "accurate" form. As for the Shambles, is that a nightmare to retexture or what? It looks like it'd be a nightmare, haha.

Actually, despite my apprehension, the shambles turned out to be pretty easy (just one big bone texture with cutouts for the leather, and then I added the bloody hand type deal on the head piece.)

The big pain was the skeletal hound. That thing will give me texture seam nightmares for days to come.

Next up ... the flesh atronach

checks bsa file

...there's three versions..
