If I'm on the subway and a man or woman dressed only in their underwear sits next to me or in front of me, I'd feel pretty uncomfortable. If I'm going to a class at my university and a student or two come dressed in just their knickers/panties, I'd feel uncomfortable. If I'm at a bar and see someone drinking in just their underwear, again I would feel uncomfortable. It's a completely inappropriate context for that kind of nudity, where it's both out of place and directed at people who have no business or interest in seeing you naked. Am I a prude for this?
For one, underwear is clothing hence if your wearing underwear your not naked, you are the opposite of naked, you are clothed.
And to address your question, yes, you are a prude for feeling uncomfortable about seeing someone in their underwear. And thats fine, your entitled to, but don't pretend like everyone else on the planet is supose to cry or wince because they saw their neighbor wearing hello-kitty knickers in the street. So what if someone sits next to you in their boxers/briefs?
You won't catch anything you wouldn't catch if they were wearing jeans, cats and dogs still won't get along and it really won't be the end of the world.
I don't intend for this to be an insult at all, but you really sound like you were the kind of kid that would giggle or blush because some girls skirt blew up in the school yard and you got a glipse of her bloomers. In most cases underwear reveals no more of a persons body than swimwear... I supose you have an issue with people wearing swimwear too?
I honestly dont know a single soul that would have an issue with seeing someone in their underwear. Sure some might question the choice to wear briefs in the middle of winter, but its not nudity, and its really not a crime to walk around clothed, unless you live in some bizare place where they literaly do have fashion police.
