Name for a bakery

Post » Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:39 pm

my wife is gonna start up a bakery specializing in cakes, cupcakes and bread puddings.

What should we call it?

Also, if you can think of a better name please let me know. Any and all feedback is welcome.

Pink Sugar - She loves pink and sugar is for the sweets
Pink Ladies Cakes - She is a fan of the movie Grease (it would be a theme for the shop)
Pink Velvet - Like Red Velvet but pink, signature dish
Candy Skull Sweets - My suggestion for her love of Día de los Muertos skulls
NomNom Cupcakery - She already has a small project called nomnom sweets (in my sig)

She is very adamant about not having her name in it (to boring)

Professor Muffinstein's fabsweetulous pieroscope and cakeulating bakery.

Also, http://nomnomtruck.com/ is the name of a food truck so that might be troublesome.

Pink Sugar sounds awkward. Pink Ladies Cakes is rather specific. Pink Velvet reminds me of a [censored] (sorry). The last two are rather childish.

Just call it [Your wife's first name] Patisserie.

EDIT: My god, [censored] is censored? Lady parts, then. Its the velvet that got me. Although, its not like six never sold though...

OM NOM NOM

Just sounds too delicious to not have a bakery named after it.

I went with Nom Nom Cupcakery.

Pink Velvet sounds classiest to me.

I can't read that name without imagining being "greeted" by http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/2741/142218bluelez9.jpg at the counter.

"Pink Ladies Cakes" would probably work for a brothel. "Pink Sugar" might, too. Figure that sort of thing is worth bearing in mind.

"NomNom Cupcakery" is an okay name. People who are in the internet age shouldn't be annoyed by it, and to people who don't know 'bout teh noms will think of it as just a cute name (assuming they find it cute...).

I vote for NomNom cupcakery. If you disagree with me, I have a monkey with a handgun backing me up. And I'm semi confident he knows how to use it.

Another important thing to consider is the neighborhood(s) around which the bakery is going to be located.

If there are a lot of young people, like around a college campus or anything, you'll get a lot of popularity with something like "Nom Nom Cupcakes" or what someone said before "Get Baked" or something along that line. For example, around my campus is a cafe/bakery place called "Baked and Wired," which is extremely popular, and it's a name that sticks with you for its uniqueness.

Just a few thoughts. Oh,and I'm going with "Candy Skull" for it's unique theme. It's something people would remember.

I do like NomNom Cupcakery, though I think it'd benefit from being even a bit shorter. Like NomNom Cakes, NomNom Bakes, or even NomCakes. And I don't think there'd be anything wrong, either, with simply extending NomNom Sweets as the name of the bakery, either.

And for a slogan "...but I eated it" to http://icanhascheezburger.com/2007/01/15/i-made-you-a-cookie/.

The poll choices are awful.
Pink Sugar sounds like a name for a drag queen.
Pink Ladies makes me think of Grease, and is probably copyrighted.
Nom Nom Cupcakery is awkward.

Buns in the Oven and Get Baked were actually pretty witty, liked those.

You could also call it "Just Desserts", "Sweet!!!", or "Raisin Cain."
