Naming links

Post » Mon Aug 17, 2015 12:21 am

One thing I cannot figure out how to is to name a link. All I know is just pasting in the link icon, like this http://www.matrixgames.com/products/381/details/Storm.over.the.Pacific.

But I see a lot of you good people actually name the links. How do I do that?

[ u r l = h t t p : / / e x a m p l e . c o m ] t e x t h e r e [ / u r l ] (without the spaces)

If using BBCode mode, you can also click the little chain icon with the green "plus" symbol

There is a button for that in the text editor; it looks like a small chain with a green spot. In other places, it looks like a small planet Earth. :)

I really would love to use the rich text editor more, but it makes splitting up quotes such a pain and I hate how it carries over rich text properties pasted into it. If paste as plaintext was the default option and it didn't make quotes all fancy-like I'd use it more. I find myself trying to do ctrl-K in plaintext mode too often (though it looks like ctrl-K doesn't work even in rich-text mode)

Remember to always check the real link - when you hover the mouse over a link, a bar (lower-left in Firefox, for example) should appear with full link address. Someone could link to any site, naming it not only with fancy name, but could hide another address there.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

See? :D
