Nastiest Wasteland Food

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 6:58 am

There's been plenty of topics about your favorite foods (even though in real life I can't imagine anyone here touching the food in the game), but what about least favorite? Which food do you think is the nastiest and your character could never eat?

My vote goes for radroach meat. Just the thought of eating a roach disgusts me. :yucky:

My characters, have never, ever eaten Strange Meat. All characters, regardless of karma, gun down hunters.

I'd rather eat a human then a roach.

...did I say that out loud?

Can't be as bad as 200 year old unfrozen salisbury steak.

It's all pretty nasty, though I must agree with the Strange Meat and Human Flesh sentiment. My characters would rather starve than pretty much eat anything in the game...and they do. They run on water, stimpaks, and pure adrenaline :P

Well some of the food doesn't sound so bad to me. Like squirl meat, lots of people do hunt and eat squirls where I'm from. I've never had the chance to try it, but I hear it's very good. Dog meat is something a lot of countries consider a delicacy like in Korea. Of course it's taboo to eat pets in the US, but I'm sure it's not so bad to eat. And of course there's the non-perishable foods like spam, cans of pork and beans, and candy apples. I'm sure they'd be fine to eat after several years.

Of course all the food is irradiated, so I'm sure that contributes to the yuckiness factor.

strange meat, but its the period post war apocalyptic, you can't really say you can or can't eat something that is worth surviving.

Secretly I always wondered why, if there were an oil/gas crisis before the Great War, all the stoves are gas ranges. But anyways...

I admit the Mirelurk meat is sort of appealing, if you think of it as being like crab meat, especially since the meat is made into "cakes".

Brahmin look far too skinny to be able to cut a steak off of them, though. They must be so tough to chew and eat.

Besides, Mirelurks are total jerks. Eating them is totally satisfying....haha.

...I'm not a vegetarian, in general.

Radroach Meat for me too. I don't care if you batter it, deep fry it, sautee it with Crunchy Mutfruit, cook it in Whiskey or Wine, that's just disgusting.

yeah i'm going to go with Rad-Roach meat to, although i'd rather eat that then Strange meat. The Perfect meal in the game is a bramin steak, with a mutfruit and some scotch

pound for pound insects have more protein and energy then beef. and more then 1/2 of all livings things
combined weight on earth are insects. therefore, plenty to eat.

man... most of you guys wouldn't last two days lost in the desert. lol.

No, we would not. I've watched many episodes of Survivorman and my conclusion is always "better him than me"!

I wouldn't have any trouble eating insect or Mirelurk meat, but I admit I'd be reluctant to eat Strange Meat/Human Flesh unless I was really starving.

I guess I'll be going with the consensus on this, nastiest is Strange Meat, followed by Radroach meat  :yuck:

Lets not forget that lovely Wasteland delicacy - bloatfly meat. Just look at http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bloatfly_(Fallout_3) and tell me that you wouldn't like to eat one. :yucky:
