I would like to believe many of the more evolved nations (China, UK, Germany, etc) would have had their own Vaults. However, the communications in the U.S.A are pretty bad during the game, most comms are via basic radio signals. It's very possible that this lack of global communication may be all that stands between the countries.

i have a theory about the netherlands, the golden age stopped here in the 18th century so there hasn't been any serious military power anymore, most likely during the resource wars the netherlands was being invaded by or German, or French, or Brittain, most likely the also did claim Belgium and Luxemburg, In our universe Rotterdam has been the largest harbour in the world for many years (guess who just did get passed by shanghai or so) ... Most likely ofcourse during the resource wars before the great war many parts of the Netherlands were being flooded by Water ... Ofcourse I don't know about vaults, but I'f there are any vaults they most likely would be in the southern or eastern part of the Netherlands to only places who are above sea-level ....

There isn't any nukes in Scandinavia etc. so why nuke that area? It posses no threat to anyone. And other military forces are few too.

An interesting point to consider, would the rest of the world have also stockpiled nuclear weapons(even those nations which in our time, would have taken an anti-nuclear stance). It would seem correct to think that even the most pacifistic countries such as Sweden, etc. would have held some form of nuclear arms, or perhaps they would have even potentially allowed nuclear weapons to be based on their territory....

Maybe there were nukes in Scandinavia, and they did get nuked. When the world Super Powers begin firing off nukes, anyone is fair game.

There are no nukes there in our world, but we can't be certain about the Fallout world.

If in Fallout's world things like START were never signed between the Soviets and the US, could Scandanavia be a viable forward base for parts of s Soviet Missle Defense Shield?

It's best to assume that every Western power, would have had a well developed nuclear deterrent. With that being said, we could also assume that every power from Ireland to Argentina had some lesser form of nuclear arsenal.

** An Interesting Point ** ...... Would the IRA have used dirty bombs in Northern Ireland...??

Not so sure if Australia would be that "safe". After all, they are in the "backyard" of Red China....and being part of the ANZUS Treaty(Australia, New Zealand, United States Security Treaty), they would definitely have seen some action...

Austrailia is safe.

Hardly.

First off, The Oz government wanted nukes in the 60's-70's (neither the UK, or the US government trusted the Australian Counterespionage department (ASIO) to keep it safe... They had a reputation much like that of a Sieve... A popular joke in Australia's capital goes "How do you spot the ASIO agent? He's the one in the Dark suit, wearing an ASIO baseball cap standing next to a truck marked "ASIO").

They also have a heck of a lot of uranium to build em with, and a lot of Nowhere to test em in (which they were happy to let the British use).

Thats also not to forget Australia's defensive situation... A whole lot of land and a population to low to defend it alone - Australia always has, and would continue to need to, tie itself to a greater power - Originaly Britain, and since WW2, the US. A forward nuke base in Fallout's universe is possible

Even if it doesnt have nukes, its suppling the fuel for its friends.
