Naturality and "Good VS Evil" Discussion

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 9:41 am

I've been wanting to have a discussion about this topic for awhile and finally decided to go ahead and start the thread. Thought this would be interesting...

What are your thoughts on nature? As in like human nature type of stuff... What is part of human nature? What is not human nature and considered unnatural? And what is your thoughts on the famous "Good VS Evil" ideas out there? Can there actually be a source of good or of evil? Or are they just made up by human beings to describe something or someone?

As for me... Well I'ma put my thoughts in a spoiler.

Spoiler
Firstly... To me, Natural is simply our natural instincts which we are born with and are used to help use keep ourselves alive, comfortable, and further our family/race.

Unnatural is whenever it is something which goes against one or more of our natural instincts OR is something which cannot happen naturally.

Another thing... In my opinion, human beings are the only living creatures which can grow into unnatural life styles... AND they can force other animals into unnatural life styles as well. (If humans were never be, every animal would be in their natural life style right now).

Now natural stuff are simple things which we can all should know and can think about off the top of our head... But when does something become unnatural?

To me, there is a "bar" of Naturality. At one end is blue and the other is red. The blue end is, so to say, the "good" side and the red end is, so to say, the "evil" side. The middle is where our natural life styles are at.

Now why I look at it like this? Things which are considered as "good" or "evil" are normally things which go against our natural instincts while our natural instincts themselves seems to be more of a neutral thing... FYI: We only cared about keeping our self and possibly our family alive. That's it.

With things which considered good, we could do things which could only benefit others and even people we do not know. We can even risk our own life for others on this end, which is completely against our natural instinct to live.

On the other end, we don't just want the small amount of things to fulfill our needs... We want just EVERYTHING or just want the pleasure of killing things for no required reason what-so-ever... Which also goes against our natural instincts cause by human nature, we should only aim for what we need... NOT what we want.

And a lot of different things can count as unnatural... I even count love as an unnatural element as it can cause one to overly care for another creature or human being... Lust can also be considered unnatural as it can cause one to overly want something (Mostly money... FYI: Lust for money/items = Greed), which we do not need...

Other things which can be considered unnatural, and isn't on this scale, would be a lot of human-made constructs... Things which are not made naturally.

Now as for specifically about good and evil...

To me. Good is when you think of others and try to help other people to the best of your ability and make sure no one is harmed and that all is happy around you... FYI: Thinking of others over yourself.

Evil is when you ONLY think of yourself and your WANTS and will do anything to satisfied yourself and those wants of yours... You wouldn't care if you harm another creature or human in the process. As long as you are satisfied, you are good. FYI: You and your wishes above everything else...

That is all.

I hope this is alright and please note, all forum rules is applied to this thread!

I think a lot of what we do is natural behavior. All the time we find out animals do 'human' things that makes me figure everything we do is pretty natural or is caused by our natural instincts.

There is some monkey that makes small talk, chimps have prosttutes and will fake laugh to try show a group they are having 'fun', dolphins murder for fun and svck on puffer fish to get high, ants fight and some enslave other colonies etc.

I don't even know what would count as unnatural.

Good and evil are discriptions we give to certain actions. Yes they are part of the human nature. Yes they are real. Everything else will have to wait Til morning.

Defining evil as selfishness and good as selflessness is horribly shortsighted. An act that is commonly considered "evil" can be committed for what is perceived to be the greater good, and an act that is charitable can just as easily be done for selfish reasons (donating to charity to improve your public image).

Humans are both social and selfish by nature. We all want to live as comfortably as possible and procreate like every other organism out there, and the best way to do that with our biology is to group together. By helping someone, we are proving to both them and the population at large that we are useful and deserve to be supported in turn. Simple as that. There really isn't anything "unnatural" in what we do.
