Navy Vs Disney

Lately i've become exceedingly disgusted with Disney not only due to a fact what a relative told me about them, but how they seem to be as monopolistic as Microsoft at times. Really hope the Navy gets the copy rights to the name and that they don't market it as heavily as Disney would.

If disney wins, then all they are doing is making the soldiers that helped get rid of a huge world terror a laughing stock. I hope the soldiers get a say in this. I wouldn't want to be merchandise if I did something like that. Disney has gone down the hole way too far on this one.

But the U.S. Navy may have the argument that they are, you know, actually the SEALs, that they were using it first to identify themselves and any use by Disney would create consumer confusion about sponsorship," he said.

Pretty much my thoughts.

I get the impression someone is trying to conjure a controversy here to get a news story. All they have is a vague quote from one representative who is involved who seemed to imply that there was little or no conflict in the matter. The rest of the quotes are from random lawyers who more than likely have no inside information.

so is disney going to re-use drawings from Aladdin and create new ones so they can make a movie about killing osama and somehow teaching love and friendship?

Wait... Are you telling me that Fox News is using a teensy little hint of maybe the possibility of a conflict and blowing it completely out of proportion to create controversy and great headlines to attract people? Surely you gest, Fox News would never do that.

Believe me, I have no prejudice against Fox News. In fact in general I believe their reports to be fairly insightful. But this particular story was such obvious pandering I couldn't just let it go. Still I don't know of any other media sources that aren't just as bad. News has gone to [censored].

So a corporation is trying to advertise and cash in on the Seal operatives work?

But the post above says FOX "News" may have blown this out of proportion.

Still if this is true, I find it sick.

one side has elite trained warriors, the others have the best legal teams money can aqquire. its tough to say who'd win. seriously. in a fight sure the seals would win, but disney has gotten their way with this kind of stuff before.

Not sure if the Navy wants to make it's on merchandise. But merch of this kind of thing is rather sad whoever makes it.

May the best richest team win. :cryvaultboy:

(It's just one symptom of a much, much greater problem - the many-headed beast of law today, especially corporate law. I'd rant a bit, but it'd probably turn political.)

Usama bin Laden is the translation of ????? ?? ???? ?? ??? ?? ???? used by the United States government. There is no universal standard for translating Arabic names into English, so there are variations.

Hahaha, that would be awesome!

I was thinking more on the lines of adorable forest creatures who sing show tunes.

The Seals wouldn't stand a chance.
