NCR's Armor....

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2011 5:39 am

Hello all, ok so what is the deal with the NCR's armor?

Firstoff, I dont know if WW2 and/or Korea went down in the Fallout universe..but if they did, dont you think the NCR would have armor more closely resembling what US troops wore in those wars? I mean they look like there wearing WW1 British trench armor for cryin out loud....

Those helmets there wearing were never used by the US armed forces ever...The British wore them in WW1 and WW2 (i believe they rocked them in ww2 but im not 100%)

And the way there pants flare at the thigh makes it look even more like British armor...So what is the deal with that? Shouldnt they be wearing M1 helmets and such?

There Armor represents more WW1, WW2 Uniform...

Wear NCR Bandoleer Armor, and a Combat Helmet.

or!

Wear NCR Facemask Armor, Biker Goggles and Combat Helmet for a "Desert wanderer" look

I don't think mimicking the pre-war government is a priority for NCR. They go for suits that are practical in the hot desert of post-apocalyptic West Coast.

I would, as a history nerd, note that NCR's armor bear no resemblance to British world war era outfits... The "helmet", which more accurately is more just a sun hat, is a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kettle_hat. The uniform is nothing even close to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/Wn21-45a.jpg.

The helmets (or at least that basic design called the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brodie_helmet) were used by the British as late as Korea. They were also used by American troops in WW1 and weren't entirely replaced until World War 2 by the more recognizable http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Helmet.

If they were mimicking Pre-War government, they'd be wearing Combat Armor. Their armor is a more 'cheaper' version to mass produce.

They're scavenging just like everyone else. I doubt there's any military surplus stores left after 200+ years.

Not so. IIRC general NCR gear is built and furnished in NCR, the exception to this is NCR Veteran Ranger armor, their gear is made up of LAPD riot gear.
