Ncr Civil War.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:00 pm

So i was thinking now theres loads of threads suggesting thing slike this. But in van burren the ncr was in a Civil war between the loyalists and the rebels lead by Victor Presper so if Obsidian ever makes another Fallout game i think it would be cool to base the story around an Ncr civil war over things like Mutant rights -parreling the rights of Blacks and irish that cause the American civil war so just a suggestion and please don't redirect me to another thread thanks.

If an NCR civil war was to happen, I think it would work best if the BOS nuked the NCR capital. The fall of central government leaves a void that several states try to fill - I'd suggest Reno, Hub and Angel's Boneyard claiming the right to be capital and setting up paralell federal governments and presidents - Only Reno and Hub being serious, Angel's boneyard secretly playing and arming both sides to prolong the conflict (and make more cash). Vault City and a few other places try to go independent again.

The game then can be set around the players actions - Restich the union, and with who in favour? Don't restich the union, kill it dead? Have the BOS become the steel scourge theatened in the alternative ending to FO1?

This sounds pretty decent. I'd like to see Bethesda compress all that in one single sandbox map, though.

If an Ncr Did happen it would proablly be Ncr commoners sick of the heavy taxes and the way the soldiers and rangers and their goverment treat them like animals, the rebel faction would have poor equipment weapons armour in poor reparir etc but they would have the advantage of numbers,

For a game based around a NCR Civil War we would have to go back to California. Which would mean we need to go back to the old way map-node system. That way we can have all the locations of FO1 and FO2 and new ones.

I don't really want to go back to California, so much of America left to see. I don't see fallout going back to the old mapping system :sadvaultboy:

If there was a NCR Civil war it sould be over states rights and taxes. NCR already gives mutants rights and any religion as long as its not based on violence is ok in NCR.

why in the world would the BOS nuke the NCR. That would just be insult to injury. Im pretty sure people are just sick of nukes.

@styles i dont think that any way in hell would they go back to the old mapping system what reasons would they even consider doing that.

They are in war with eachother.

The old map system could be used to create bigger and more varied gameworlds.

Cos they're at war, trapped in a corner, and trapped animals and people tend to overreact.

It would also end the war on a single strike. Central command falls down, units decide to break away and do their own thing - the brotherhood know this from experience - its how they started!

That's not how government works, especially in post-apocalyptic times. High taxes and abuses by the military (???) are a fair price to pay for safety and a decent life.

There has been alot of nuking in Fallout already, we can do without. Let's just have a good, old-fashioned government-overthrown-by-the-people instead, with maybe a little help from the BoS. Not because they are kind, they just see it as good opportunity to gain some power. So involving them gives a specific ending with them gaining power.

The old mapping system would allow for much larger game world. If they ever went back to California I would hate to see all the FO1 locations crammed into a space the size of FO3/New Vegas. Same with the FO2 locations or worse both FO1 and FO2s locations made smaller and crammed into such a small game space.

Maybe not so many locations, but they've got huge distances inbetween them.

oh ok. But still they could probably incorperate that into like one of the fallout games if they went back to Cal.(as in using the mapping system from F3 and NV)

Thay have a new engine, it could probably handle a much larger area (from what I've heard it's the most advanced system in the world at the moment).

I'd like to see an old place in First-Person 3D, I think it'd be an incredible experience.

When did they get this?

As for an old place to see in 3D, I want to see the Boneyard.

Quite frankly going back to CHALIFORNIAH would strike me as a very desperate attempt to pander to fans of the first two fallout games. Or in layman's terms, fan-five-fingered-power-play.

SavageBeatings is right there are not that many locations in the original but they are hundreds of miles apart. New Vegas could not have locations in it that were just 120 miles or so away .

FO2 distance from San Francisco California to Klamath Falls Oregon is 306 miles. Combine FO1 and FO2 we are talking much greater distances. Cramming them into the space of the maps of FO3/New Vegas would just be crazy.

THE LOCATIONS WOULD BE SO TIGHT YOU COULD PUT ONE FOOT IN THE BONEYARD AND THE OTHER IN THE HUB?

As am I, I hate it when developers use 'nostalgia' to sell games. I want to see the rest of America, I want to see Texas, New England, Ronto...

Check http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/9598/falloutcovered.jpg I made some time ago. Compare what areas Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics cover, and compare it to what areas Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 cover (the two last ones just cover cities, while the three first ones covers huge parts of one or more states)
