NCR in Fallout 4

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 12:50 pm

While most of the discussion is focused on the Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, androids etc. one faction that has not been mentioned much is the NCR. Several rangers traveled East after the Ranger Unification Treaty in Nevada, which makes me think that a very small group could be in Fallout 4. Could the rangers that broke off from the NCR make their way towards Boston? Your thoughts?

I don't think so, given the distance between California and Massachusetts. Maybe a traveller or something from NCR territory will make an appearance.

I'm not holding out hope to see people from NCR on the East Coast.

If there were, I would spend at LEAST 30 minutes on a Mind of Freeman rant at them.

"Why are you here? This is MASSACHUSETS! You should be in CALIFORNIA, with the rest of the New CALIFORNIA republic! Go home! This is not your home! Are you too good for you home?!"

I doubt it simply because the NCR is very tied to story of the West Coast.....although so was BOS and the Enclave.

I think that Fallout has established that it is very difficult to cross coast to coast, Lyons' BOS seems to have recuited on route and the MIdwestern BOS had their own problems.

A small number of NCR Rangers would have a really difficult time crossing the continetal US on foot even if there were no threats of hostile wildlife, local factions and dangerous enviroments......nor can I see any benefit to the NCR in such a trip since any information they gather would be decades out of date by the time they made a successful second trip back to report their findings.

I'd second that question, where is it known from?

Also how long would it take to walk across the continetal US today, without the dangers of the post war Fallout world.....add in time to find a secure location every night, hunt and scavenge for food and resources, avoiding hostile wildlife, avoiding hostile locals who are probably occuping the best land etc.

No....The NCR is geographically so far away that it would be impossible unless we had centuries of time-jumping.

They have other things to worry about, even if they did have the means to travel to Boston.

Uh huh, but "East" is being exaggerated here. You're talking about Arizona and Colorado, if that.

Why would remnants of the New California Republic be found in Boston?

I think we might see some mention of them but it'd be quite a stretch to have them actively involved in the story.

Imagine if we came across one lone, sun-baked, half crazed NCR standing on a beach, staring at the ocean.

"I been planting NCR flags every 100 miles to claim it for the NCR...but...but I can't plant a flag on THAT!" He points to the ocean. "Nah, man, you gotta draw a line! I don't care, I'mma claim that ocean! FOR THE REPUBLIC!" And he just runs into the ocean with a flag and is never seen again...

I really dont think so. But they did have characters (who were dead) who were from the west coast. I suppose if they made it some rangers could have. But they really shouldnt

besides a passing mention by NPC, nothing, because they are stuck over at the West coast and judging from New Vegas, they are not in the postion to push that much east.

Any ending besides theirs, and they aren't in a position to push at all.

Then you see a Legion guy behind him.

"I've been swapping his NCR flags for Legion ones the whole way. His entire trip... wasted! Ha!"

That would work, he could be like the crazy guy at Novac.....I doubt anybody in the Boston area would have even heard of the NCR.

Someone mentioned adding the Dark Brotherhood in Fallout 4...I mean, why not the NCR? Or, let's go wild, and say Caesar's Legion....ha.

No. Just... no.

NCR has no business on the east coast. BoS and Enclave was semi-beliveable, due to the former's mission of grabbing tech and the latter's mission of re-establishing the US Government. The East Coast would be an obvious choice for both groups if they wrote off the West Coast as "almost done" or "too prickly right now."

But why would the NCR be on the east coast? First, they'd have to crawl through hostile territory, whether or not they won the Dam or the legion's leadership is non-existant. Assuming they get through that, most of the US is still largely a wasteland with settlements here and there, with things what will kill you as soon as look at you. Finally, they'd have to have a really good reason to leapfrog over to the east coast. The Lewis and Clark expidition was made in part because the United States gained ownership over a large parcel of land and had no idea what was in it.

Well the rangers technically arent NCR, so if they went east they most likely wouldnt be affiliated with NCR or wearing their clothes or emblems.

And they were also called the Desert Rangers though, which implies desert, but not necessarily barring them from appearing in boston. I could see something like a small faction of ex rangers that have a small base or something in boston, but if they are around i imagine they would be very minor with maybe only a quest or two at most.
