It seems although you cannot take a companion to the sink you can call up the NCR assuming you are in their good books and request backup, which you can then take to the sink. They don`t seem to be able to leave the main room of the sink though...unless someone knows something else?

Never tried radioing the NCR in big MT. Likely a bug but a bug that's worth trying next time I'm there... =p
