started work painting... and kind of finished alot of it, too..
the helmet is getting some rust and dirt over it, as you can see, as well as the grey/blue of the armor.

if people have good techniques making rust effects, please feel free to share them, i don't mind what ive done, but theres always room for improvement.

once the stencils are added, this should be finished..

some light work on the armor plates for the arms.
still alot to go.

this should make people happy.

i'm really not happy with my lettering.. does ANYONE know where to get either a fine detail stencil or stick on letters from a an actual physical store? (not enough time to mail order them i think)

more lettering

i feel kind of cheap for being almost done with the mask.. i want to do more to it, but i have no idea what else to do,
i feel like i'm missing a detail or just being kind of lazy with it, since it's the focal point of the project and costume.. but compared to construction, it was very easy and fast to paint.

i am sad to only find this post today, with the mask almost finished i feel bad to say this but...you should have done the eye holes closer to each other, i watched all the topic, and in the pictures that you have it on its clear that you will have a bad vision

other than that its just Amazing

i cant wait to see your work on the coat

I think the hand-drawn letters give a better feel, actually; that's certainly how I would picture writing on the armor in the post-apocalyptic setting of Fallout.

Amazing work, keep it up. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Try hobby shops, especially ones that specialize in RC planes or model railroads.

oh god i look like some kind of offender with the spandex hood on.. i need to add mesh to the eyes..

sewing pics are boring, so i'v omitted them, instead, actual progress to see for the coat!!

the sleeves need shortening, and the rain cape needs adding, but it's all coming together.
i think i may put wire into the collar.. but i'm not sure.

found a plastic pistol that looks alot like the ranger sequoia (sp?) for honorable service pistol, needs alot of detail added, but it does have the leafy swirls all over it, so it's a great start.
needs painting, and wont be ready for the 7th, but it was an awesome deal for a buck.

The spandex hood looks like a terrorist hood, Just kidding.

Great work, but are you going to repaint that gun or what?

if you double check the last post i included pics in, at the very bottom, i mention about the pistol i'm holding.

well, i'm trying to make a duster.
what would you have used? with my research before i decided making it was the best route, i found that leather isn't appropriate to the pictures, and all the decent dusters i can find have way too many pockets all over them, lapels and inaccurate rain guards, as well as the fact they are 'oil skin' which makes adding fabric to the coats remarkably difficult, but i'm only one guy, so if you've got a good idea, i'm open to hearing it.

yeah, this is the biggest bit of advice i've gotten
"dude, hes got bigger shoulders than your skinny a**, get some shoulder padding"
i'll be putting it between the shoulder and raincape

You should pop the orange cap off of that pistol, and get some tubing and make the barrel longer. Nothing like a revolver with a barrel as long as a man's arm

(That wasn't a completely serious suggestion)

EDIT: You know, if you had the guts ( I know I wouldn't) You could completely customize the armour by doing some kind of Wasteland scav paint, you know like paint the little doodles you see on walls and stuff, maybe add some lines from Mad Max, make references, make it have that really "Hey, I found a dead Ranger, I'm taking his armour... OH HAAAAY look at that b1rd... Lemme paint.... :liplick: " But that would be really hard for someone to bring themselves to do, I would easily understand. Just a random thing I spontaneously thought of though.

wow, everywhere i post these pics, people are ragging on the poor pistol! it was a dollar, and i wont use it until i've made it looks considerably different (i was planning upon extending the barrel, as well as other things) don't worry guys! :)

No time for descriptions, off to the con in two or so hours, and going to be hand stitching a few parts on the way!
i'll share some photoshoot work when i'm back
