Necromancy magic

My own point of view is that we could either summon zombies from Oblivion to aid us, or through rituals actually make our very own undead sevant, using conjuration, restoration and alteration all together to make the ultimate mummy servant. Reanimating with a mere spell doesn't give me the feeling of being a necromancer. Especially as all TES lore I've read is based upon rituals and corrupting your own soul in order to manipulate the souls of the world.

However, the work of Mannimarco is called mysticism, corrupting his own souls as the Magicka he uses when he perhofms the Dark art.

This should not be too hard to do.. you remember the Atronach alter in the wizards tower DLC in Oblivion.
As well as the mages guild quest requiring spells cast at a sealed portal, that you needed to cast in order to activate.

Well many mods had scripted trigger events based on items and spells cast at triggers.

For your unead ritual all it would take is..
An alter, or a grave, dead body acting as a placed trigger.
Either.
1. a list of body parts / ingredients.
2. a series of spells cast apon the trigger.
3. Both.

You could set it up that unless you cast the spells at the right time in order, the corpse goes bad and becomes something else than what you planned.

@ Sychosis, thanks for posting that, I loved it in game and it's been a long time sinse I read it.

I like the idea of a necromancers' guild (if that's possible lore-wise), so I'm all for it. :)

you could be a follower of the KING OF WORMS

I actually feel more like having a whole body to work with, not necessarily ingredients so to say. All you need to prepare a corpse for the ritual can be found in the preparation of the corpse vol 1-3. Zombies by themselves are for "noob" necromancers, the lazy sort. The real masters summon mummified servants by waiting an in-game month, perhaps it could be taken down to two in-game weeks for the comfort of still ebing playable and not too long to wait for. The trigger itself cannot be found anywhere though, it is not stated in lore what the ritual is about, but Oblivion clearly points to black soul gems as NeverCommingBack said, however not one empty and a filled but one filled. ′The spell you them cast would corrupt your soul, not necessarily even needing you to be skilled in any school of magic, as long as you have done the ritual to embrace the dark art and corruption of your soul, sort of vampirism but not in desease form and not at all the same effect. Corrupting your soul by creating undead servants could have negative effects on you, the more you do it, the more your (example:) max HP / stamina / magicka could be drained. Necromancers could also suffer from increased weakness towards magic. Just an idea though, but our souls definitely need to become corrupted by the dark art.

I'd rather spells to commune with spirits or something and perhaps have one or two quests you can only obtain with such a spell, or even just some unnecessary yet interesting conversations with, for example, the spirit of an adventurer who's corpse you come across in a dungeon. But obviously thats extra dialogue and stuff just to cater to a small subsection of magic.

Sorry for voting no, but the poll was badly written:
Would you like to reanimte dead things? - No. I'm a hunter, I don't do that sort of thing.
Should be
Would you like to reanimte dead to be in the game? - Whatever, I just don't care.

so you don't play anything other than a hunter?
