Need Advice on Nord Vampire Lord Build

Post » Mon Oct 22, 2012 3:39 pm

After trying to force myself to go through DG as a DG Faction I realized I just missed my Vampire form too much that I had on another file. Anyhow I'd like to know if I could do this type of build for my Vampire.

Basically thinking I wanna do a Nord Vampire Lord. Especially cause I like Nords in this game for some reason. Quesiton is I'm not too sure if I wanna be magic, stealth, or warrior as I want to use the Royal Vampire Armor set. I feel the best type is usually mage. Even if I don't use Necromage. Problem is not sure how I could adapt my high elf mage build I used for my last vampire.

I know the vampire rings help a lot. I know I won't be putting points into Mage Armor this time. Since I wanna use the Vampire Royal Armor set. So I may put points into Light Armor instead. Also I'd probably put points into Magicka till level 15 like I did for my High Elf if I did a mage. So some help required please.

Here's a quick build that might interest you:

Race: Nord Vampire
Stone: Lord
Major Skills: Enchanting, Two Handed
Minor Skills: Destruction, Light Armor, Restoration

http://skyrimcalculator.com/#201222

Armor:

- Vampire Royal Armor

- Shrouded Hood (*not* Cowl)

- Vampire Gauntlets (Fortify Two Handed & Fortify Light Armor)

- Vampire Boots (Fortify Two Handed & Fortify Stamina Regen)

Ring: Custom (Fortify Destruction & Fortify Magicka Regen)
Necklace: Custom (Fortify Destruction & Fortify Health Regen)

Sword: Silver Greatsword (Fire Damage & Absorb Health)

Basic combat style would involve switching between dual Fire spell, and your greatsword. If you enchant the gear under the effects of an Enchanter's Elixir, and with the magnitude buff of Necromage, you should get 41% Fortify Destruction on the ring and necklace, totaling 82%. That should be enough to keep you going for long battles, and it'll also greatly increase the number of charges on the greatsword. That greatsword by the way will be absolutely amazing. The absorb health should be around 35, and the Fire Damage 50+. Throw in the sword's own damage (after Fortify Two Handed + perks), and the bonus to undead when relevant, and that thing will be lethal. Also, Silver greatswords look downright beautiful IMO. They're often overlooked because they cannot be tempered, but that can be overcome if you plan properly.

Depending on how you allocate your attribute points, and whether you favor spells over swordplay, you may want to invest in the Apprentice-Expert Destruction perks. I instead used those 3 points to invest in Speech. The Merchant perk is incredibly useful as it lets you train essentially for free: take all those iron daggers you made to level up Enchanting, and sell them to Destruction and Restoration trainers as you train. It makes it a breeze to get to the endgame, where all the fun occurs. Also, I went with the Shrouded Hood for purely aesthetic reasons: it looks downright awesome when combined with Vampire Royal Armor. If you value function over form, there are plenty of other light armor hoods/helms to consider.

It's a bit unconventional as far as Vampire builds go, but I find this type of playthrough is far more streamlined, and far more entertaining, than the classic Sneak/Illusion assassin. If you're looking for something different, I'd be happy to come up with an alternative build... I'm currently at work, and it's a very slow night. Making up builds is far more enjoyable than twiddling my thumbs.

Interesting build. May try it out. May want more magicka over swordplay as I favor spell combat and see a lot of Vampires use magic.
