ON tuesday i purchased Fallout 3 game of the year edition from walmart and went home to install it. It got to textures.bsa and then i could hear my dvd drive start making noises like its trying to scan it over and over again. After a while i get a error saying it got a e:\data2 crc error. So i tried to copy the game to my harddrive and install it that way, no avail several files could not be copied over. I tried to restart in safe mode, but my coputer disables the audio devices in safe mode, so i couldnt install there either. I then did a disk check on my harddrive and it is working just fine. I then took the game back to walmart and got a fresh copy.(I told them ill keep on exchanging them till i get a working copy, and they said they understood) I came home last night and tried to install the fresh copy. Same problem CRC eror on data.2 textures.bsa.
So Today I wanted to see if maybe my dvd drive is screwing up. Apparently theres a problem there. I tried to install Starwars Battlefront 2 and my DVD wouldnt even pick it up, just kep making that searching noise it makes. Tho i was able to get my Republic commando DVD to play, but i had that already installed. Can I have a bad dvd drive? Can that be the cuase of my CRC errors im having with fallout 3?? I have to send my laptop in to get a new keyboard and a new battery and im going to have them replace my dvd drive as well. Is there anything else im forgetting to do? I cant even get it to install... I really want to play fallout 3 i loved the first 2..
Thanks guys, i appreciate the help.
