Need better Weapons

I'm trying to take out the deathclaws at the quarry but I keep dying. Are there any particular guns or armour that can help me kill them?

This game is so annoying about this... I have Remnant Power Armor, but I have NO caps and NO weapons. :brokencomputer:

Change your tactics? engage at long range, use appropriate ammo types, set mines for ambushes, get to higher ground, and have a companion cover your back are all viable options.

Edit: AP rounds are very effective against Deathclaws

My friend the .50 and I waste Deathclaws as if they are molerats! Nah not even close to being that easy but the Anti-material rifle is amazing. I use Match Hand Loads in mine and it decimates basically anything in the wasteland.

When I first saw it in the Gunrunners shop for 8k I passed it up since it was so expensive but it is worth every cap. Go buy it.

Its all about long range. Grab some type of sniping weapon, pop a steady, psycho, and a buffout. Stealthboys are nice, you can get that first crit. Before you fire, lay down mines in the path.

You can pick up a sniper rifle for free not too far from where you can get the Anti-Material Rifle in New Vegas if you spend a little time looking around. It's easily obtainable even at level 2 or 3 since it's simply on the ground. Load it up with AP rounds and you'll be blowing off Deathclaw heads left and right in a single shot. Even with standard rounds I've found it far more effective against armored targets than the Anti-Material or Gauss Rifles. Since it's not bolt action, you can empty the clip into a target pretty quickly. Beyond that, if you plan to use another type of rifle to snipe with, AP rounds or OverCharge packs become an absolute necessity against most targets.

I don't use VATS in FONV (I did in FO3, which made the Reservists Rifle my weapon of choice) and I've been finding a simple vanilla sniper rifle pretty effective with the new HP and AP rounds.

Your are going to have to skip this part and come back when you are quite a bit higher. After I complete my next quest I'm going to head up there and snipe some death claw brains out!

Might be a little late here but here's the best thing you guys can do. Over in free side where you get into The Strip, there's a store to the East of The Kings' called Silver Rush. They have many expensive, powerful, good duration weapons over there. But how do you quire them without paying or getting shot by 5 Plasma Rifles? Quite simple, there's a bathroom in there. All you have to do is pick up the item you want (lift it, do not put into inventory) bring it into the bathroom until it says your hidden and take it. I was able to take everything in the store without losing any Karma or alerting the guards. Good luck!

Fully modded sniper rifle.

It isn't even remotely difficult.

Energy weapons just plain svck compared to guns.
