Need Character Help -- Stage II

Post » Sun Jul 14, 2013 9:11 am

I'm making a cowgirl but sort of outlaw build,

Strength 6

Perception 6

Endurance 7

Charisma 1

Intelligence 5

Agility 7

Luck 8

Weapons such as Lucky, Either magnum, Cowboy Repeater, This Machine, Chance's Knife, La Longue Carbine, cowboy-esque weapons. Also I'd love to incorporate mines, since they're just a bucket full of fun. Scoping weapons is always nice too. Planning to use leather armour until I can get reinforced leather armour.
What factions should I side with? I'm thinking Powder Gangers, as the way she'd see it they'd be after a man who wronged them, and a town refuses to cooperate and hides a man in their debt. Then also, when I get to Boulder City, help the Khans against the NCR. Any other ideas of what I could do quest-wise? I'm planning to roleplay heavily, so any ideas where I should have housing as well? Or what kind of weapons, perks, etc I should get if you disagree with any of these?
Planning on starting later this afternoon. Thanks in advance for the help :)

Red Rock Canyon has a good source of Ammo( if you get the the khans to like you), water ( in the back section of the canyon) and bighorners nearby for food.

The Cowboy perk is a necessity, for all yer cowgirlin adventures and stuff.

well, this machine isn't a cowboy perk weapon, it isn't even a weapon a cowboy would use. This machine is a WWII rifle I believe. Also the trail carbine or brush gun would be better than This Machine as even though this machine fires faster than the two cowboy rifles both cowboy rifles do more damage per shot when you have the cowboy perk. Also this machine has a horrible spread in comparison to the other two rifles so you would hit more targets using the other two rifles.

Also, make sure to take the fast shot trait. It is very good for cowboy weapons. I also suggest built to destroy for the extra critical hit chance. The slight increase in weapon degradation isn't a big issue as cowboy weapons are durable and with jury rigging are very cheap to fix.

trail carbine is easier to get and has more common ammo than the brush gun, but thanks to the gun runners you can get plenty of both with enough caps. The trail carbine also appears at lower levels than brush guns.

These weapons are both quite ammo efficient thanks to their low spread and high damage per shot.

I also suggest buying any loose .357, .44 and .45-70 shells you see at vendors as single shell casing are free. Also buy any case boxes for these ammo types as well as any jars of rifle or pistol powder, large or small pistol primers, and large rifle primers. Also stockpile scrap metal.

Another tip is keep all gun ammo you get instead of selling types you don't use. You can break them down to reload the ammo type you do use.

Really once you get the Cowboy perk, any gun effected by it is gonna feel superior to others. Hell, even the Cowboy repeater is viable to use the entire game with it, though obviously the Trail Carbine and Brush gun give better Damage-per-hit, which makes sneak attacks hurt more.

Lucky is freaking amazing at dealing good damage while costing next to nothing to use with a crit build. You can get Better Criticals with your build, too.

Whats the most quick and assured way to get a trail carbine then? And what groups should I ally with?

If I were you I would've use your first thread for this but I'm here to be helpful are you on PC if not this will go a lot smother for me as I don't need to suggest mods do you have the GRA dlc if so there are two weapons in it that would be excellent for a cowgirl like character first the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Paciencia_(GRA) and then the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Medicine_Stick_(GRA) both would work really well for that type of character but this machine doesn't fit the time period it's still an awesome gun though so feel free to use it if you don't go for the vanilla brush gun 45-70gov and also the Ranger Sequioa a 45-70gov revolver for a revolver that packs a punch when luck won't cut it but Lucky will be fine for just about everything went deathclaw hunting with it more than once

As far as roleplaying goes, here are some suggestions:

Do Cass's revenge quest and then have Cass help you get revenge on Benny.

Get in good with the Khans and Powdergangers.

Do all the bounty hunter type jobs for the NCR. (Killing fiends, etc.) That way you can side with the Khans and Powdergangers, but still have a good/mixed rep with the NCR. Unless you specifically want NCR Rangers hunting you down.

Don't trust House or use the Lucky 38 as a home.

Later in the game, team up with Boone and just destroy Cottonwood and Fortification Hill. Then kill Caesar.

Ultimately be a lone wolf go the Independent route.

She is on Xbox with no DLC at all.

Also without mods on the PC to give paciencia a scope paciencia svcks as the hunting rifle's mesh is messed up so the iron sights do not shoot what you aim at with them. Also hunting rifles are not a cowboy gun.

Paciencia is deceivingly one of the worst weapons in the game, simply because for it's pricetag you can get a GRA AMR, which simply beats Paciencia in almost every single category, save for firing speed and ammo weight. It's attraction is supposed to be it's big crit damage, but it's crit damage is equal to that of a GRA AMR, so you've got little to no reason to NOT get it over Paciencia.

if you want most of the guns are sold by the gun runners except the Ranger Sequioa you have to kill a vet ranger for that or do the

Spoiler
return to sender quest at camp forlorn hope talk to the radio girl and at the end turn the culprit in who will then kill himself and drop a ranger sequioa

yes but this is a cowgirl build the AMR wouldn't fit and I've had good experiences with the Pacienia just takes getting used to it I guess may not be a cowboys gun but it comes close and I was only suggesting it if Liz had the GRA dlc

If you do that, do NOT do the NCR Bounties or touch the Fiends UNTIL you've done all the Great Khan quests, otherwise the Great Khan ones fail.

For a guaranteed Trail Carbine located near Goodsprings,

Spoiler
you can go north to Bonnie Springs. Be prepared for a heck of a fight if you're low level, though.
Spoiler
You'll face Viper Gang members (the leader, who wears metal armor, has the weapon) and cazadors. You may possibly aggro a Fire Gecko or two as well.

Only the lever-action shotgun, which you should be able to find fairly easy. The wrecked caravan near the Gun Runners has a corpse carrying one.

Motor-Runner is essential for one of the Great Khan quests.

As far as houses with owned beds go, Novac and the Atomic Wrangler are probably your best bet. Wolfhorn is great for your roleplaying purposes, though.
