Need A Game

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:16 am

I've been bored lately and I want a new game. I've got gift certificates, but they start to expire within a month. So I need to buy a game quickly. I'm looking for any game recommendations.

Here's some info. I'm on the PS3. I have Uncharted 1, 2, Assassin's Creed, 1, 2, Brotherhood, Killzone 2, COD4, MW2. I don't really feel like buying another COD. I like shooters, RPG's, whatever really.

As long as the game will take a while to complete, it qualifies. Thanks for any recommendations.

I am on XBL and actually started playing Torchlight, the sad thing is I am enjoying this 1200 Gamerscore game more then DA2 and TDU2 combined. Atleast TDU2 can be fixed. DA2 to me was the worst dumbed down P.O.S. since Oblivion, and Oblivion was better...LOL TDU2 needs some patches to be good but DA2, well you can't fix STUPID!!! I am loving Torchlight for a cheap down view animated game it even has more detailed enchanting then DA2 and I am really happy and enjoying this game more then the last $120 bucks I spent at a Gamestop. Sad But True---Pun Intended...lmao

Yakuza 4 is released this week, might be interesting for you. There are supposingly a lot to do in that game so while the main quest "only" is ~25 hours, it will take a lot more to do all side quests and so on. That said, if the controls are like in the previous games, they feel a bit outdated and not so smooth as some western blockbuster games. Or you could just go for the cheaper Yakuza 3 which was released about a year ago.

There's also Fallout: New Vegas if you haven't played that one already.

My favorite PS3 game is still Valkyria Chronicles which was released back in 2008. Great story and fun gameplay and so on, highly recommended ^_^ And then there's Demon's Souls too if you want a fun challenge. Oh, and Nier is excellent too.

So check those games out and see if any of them are something you might have fun with :P

I'll second these. Playing through Yakuza now and it's a whole heap of fun. The story alone has been worth it so far and some of the combat moves more than make up for the somewhat dated presentation. It also includes video summaries of the first two games so that you'll be up to speed, though the game is entirely in Japanese, so I hope you like subs.

Valkyria Chronicles is also great. It didn't get the attention it deserved when it released, but it's definitely one of the best games on the PS3. Probably even the best new IP this generation. Story, characters, gameplay--all great. Its sequel is also really good, if you ever find yourself with a PSP.

If you feel like taking a chance, Final Fantasy XIII. Reception among fans was generally negative, but I really liked it. 50+ hour story that wasn't too bad, decent combat, mixed bag of characters. Little to no sidequests or exploration though, if you look for that in an RPG.

Heavy Rain-Just got it a week ago and I love it. The story is great and add that to the fact that are 4 endings with multiple paths to reach them.I revoke my GOTY of RDR and hand it to Heavy Rain.

If your looking for an RPG Demon's Souls is highly recommended. I bought it at the same time as Heavy Rain but have not really played it yet.

Well since you say you have Killzone 2, how about Killzone 3? I love Warhawk, so you can try that game out as well.

How about Oblivion or Fallout 3 or New Vegas for the PS 3 if you don't already have it on other platforms? My son and wife just love Plants vs Zombies.

If your PS3 can run PS2 games then I would suggest Megaman X: Command Mission

because some people would rather play a game now rather than wait 8 months

For the PS3, I would say either Killzone 3 or Dragon Age:Origins. While Killzone 3's single player won't surpass that of the norm of today's shooters, I hear that the multiplayer is really good. Heard great things about the singleplayer however. As for an rpg, you can't go wrong with DragonAge:Origins. Yes, the sequel came out for the game, but it is questionable at best. Origins is the better game pretty much all-around. Those are my suggestions. Hope that helps. I would also throw Heavy Rain out there, but that games not for everyone. Great story though. Played it at my friends house.

Neverwinter Nights for the PC.

And yeah, Fallout New Vegas, its a really good game. How do you not have Metal Gear Solid 4 in your PS3 library!

You should get Super Street Fighter 4.

I enjoyed Darksiders, took me about 20 hours to complete and I didn't do everything that was offered. Played it on the PC, not PS3 though.

I don't have a PS3, but I'm going to recommend games anyway! So, feel free to ignore me if you want.

Darksiders
God of War 3 (and the God of War Collection if you don't already have it)
Folklore (I don't know too much about this game, other than that it is an RPG)
Infamous
Bayonetta
Heavy Rain
Bulletstorm
Bioshock (I have this for the PC, it was awesome!)
Enslaved

I have more, but they're probably more hit-or-miss:
Borderlands GotY
Heavenly Sword
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Prince of Persia
Brutal Legend
Demons Souls
The Darkness
Prototype
Tomb Raider Underworld
Overlord 1 & 2 (I have Overlord 1 for the PC, it was quite enjoyable, I even played it twice)
Majin & the Forsaken Kingdom
flOw
WET
Viking Battle for Asgard
Afrika
Lair (they did release a patch that fixed everyone's main gripe with the game)
Fairytale Fights
El Shaddai Ascension of the Metatron (not yet released)
Demon's Forge (not yet released)
Kingdom of Alamur (not yet released)
Knight's Contract (soon to be released if not already)
Bioshock Infinite (not yet released)
Tomb Raider (reboot) (not yet released)
Portal 2 (not yet released)
The Last Guardian (not yet released)

PSN (I don't pay much attention to these, but there are a few I would mention):
Trine (have this for the PC, much fun was had by me)
Stacking
Costume Quest
Lara Croft & the Guardian of the Light

EDIT: How could I forget:
ICO & Shadow of the Colossus combo pack (not released)
Sly Cooper Collection (released)
Prince of Persia Collection (not sure when it'll be released)
Tomb Raider Collection (not sure when it'll be released)

God of War 3

I didn't like the previous ones, so I doubt I will like this new one.

I hear Little Big Planet is a big time sink.

Tried the demo, was meh.

If it can hang in there long enough get Mortal Kombat when it comes out.

Not into fighter games. Dragon Age is a maybe.

Not really into JRPG's (just assuming cause of the name), forgot to mention that. Did Beth still pretty much [censored] on ps3 users with Vegas? Vegas is not a continuation of FO3, correct?
However, Demon's Souls interests me but when things frustrate me, I don't play them. So is it really all that hard? Or will it just take an hour or so to get used to the difficulty and strategies?

Why not just pre order Skyrim with those gift cards.

Because I'm bored now.
