I Need Help: Alternative Start by Ship mod crashing

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 10:26 am

Hey I have a question having to do with this mod, if anyone can answer.
I have this mod installed, and using it I have so far created a character(no problem), filled out all my registrations on the ship(no problem), but whenever I try to sleep in the bed, my game crashes.
it goes to the loading screen,(the normal one, used between areas) and then when it is almost done loading the screen turns black and then Oblivion just crashes.

Also, if this is of use; I have many mods installed(FCOM, OOO, MMM, and what not), and I am not sure I have configured them correctly. I have OBMM installed, as well as BOSS. However I am not quite sure how to transfer the correct load order from BOSS into OBMM.(If anyone can help me with this as a side note, that would be thanked as well.)

Any help or advice you fine gentlemen could give me would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you may be right about that. ;) Here is the current FCOM release thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122753-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ And here is Blade Of Mercy's handy thread packed with advise on installing FCOM: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119325-50steps-to-stable-fcom/

Study this material carefully. Careful study pays off when installing FCOM. If you've already read it, my advise is to read it again. FCOM isn't particularly easy to install. It requires some thought on the part of the user. When you feel you understand how to install it, give it another try. If it's still not working you may want to think about using Oscuro's mod by itself...or Oscuro and Martigen. Most folks find installing Oscuro and Martigen to be significantly easier than installing a full FCOM. You could also consider using Francesco's mod. It's an excellent mod and is probably the easiest of all the FCOM components to install as it comes with its own installation programs.

You don't normally import BOSS into OBMM. BOSS works on its own. You click on the "BOSS - Update Masterlist.bat" file and it arranges your mods. OBMM isn't involved. I actually don't use OBMM much anymore. I use its archive invalidation and install a handful of OMODS that ask questions during installation (Enhanced Economy, EVE, ect) but that's about it. I mainly use Wrye Bash and BOSS nowadays.

Hope some of that helped. :)

About this, just make sure that you don't have locked the load order in OBMM (I am quite sure there is such option an option, though I have never used it). As long as the load order is not locked in OBMM, OBMM will read the current load order (as set by BOSS) each time you start OBMM.

You haven't mentioned anything about having WryeBash installed. Bash is absolutely necessary for an FCOM install. It allows you to turn off the lock times feature for the load order and merges the files to make FCOM work. Also BOSS has a lot of information about what .esp's to use with the FCOM install.
