I need help, badly.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes...

I'm about 10 hours into Fallout: New Vegas and I'm loving it but I have a major problem. At the start of the game when you choose your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points I put 6 into everything except Charisma, which was 4. I used my first perk on Intense Training to raise my Charisma to 5. When I was reaching about the 10 hour mark I noticed to matter how easy the door was I couldn't pick any of them, so when I went to check my skills I noticed there was a minus symbol (-) next to lockpick, energy weapons and explosives, reducing them down to the 20s. I checked my S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills and found out where the problem was coming from; my Perception had been reduced to only 1 (with a minus sign next to it). I checked my health, radiation, effects, etc. and found I had no crippled limbs, no rads at all and I wasn't addicted to anything, I also checked my what I was wearing and found it had absolutely no negetive effects. I then ate, drank and sleept a lot in game and that didn't solve anything. I also uninstalled my mods, checked to find no difference, reinstalled and and it still hadn't changed. I've run out of ideas and need help BADLY. If you know whats cauing this please let me know.

Thanks for reading

I have no idea what might cause that, but if you're playing on PC you can use a console command to raise your perception back to 6 or whatever.

Did you take http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Four_Eyes trait? (If you did it's listed in perks selection.) If so, your percpetion is reduced by one whenever you aren't wearing some sort of eyeglasses.

Edit: oh nevermind, you said "to 1", not "by 1". I don't think there's any combination of effects that could reduce Perception by 5. If you are on PC, try console command "player.setav Perception 6", or if that doesn't work, try "forceav".
