Need Help On Caravan Trophies

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:20 pm

I decided to go for the platinum trophy.
I did the hideous caesers legion trophies, realised they were'nt as hideous as the thieves guild quests and trophies in Skyrim, when I got it, and decided to go for it. May as well go for platinum.
And unfortuneately that involves doing the 2 hideous caravan trophies. :swear:

So, are there any ways to make this hideous and pointless butchered card game easier or more winnable.

Luck, anything, please can someone tell me.

As far as I can tell it involves throwing cards at decks till you get a set, like butchered solitaire.
No idea beyond that.
I loathe and despise gambling in card games. :swear:
I figured Ringo was a low player, go in with a load of money, maxed out luck and throw cards at it till I win.

Will this work? Can I do anything else?

Please, someone tell me.

10 + 9 + 7 = 26
Now go stack your deck.

Now go stack your deck.

What he said. Be sure to buy all 7's, 9's and 10's you can find from the traders. Put only those cards on your deck and as the game starts discard cards until you have three sevens, three nines and two tens (or two sevens and three tens). Start building each hand and then focus on the two that are the opponents weakest.

This strategy works 9 times out of 10. On some rare occassions the opponent might play some picture cards and if your caravan deck is too small you might run out of cards.

On a side note... Opponents will use picture cards a lot more after the last patch.... However using the 10,9,7 tactic will still work most of the time... But 9/10 seems a bit optimistic..

What does a queen and joker do? I got the King and Jack's figured out. Just not sure what those other two cards do.

A Queen allows you to switch the direction of that set. If you put a Queen on a set like (5,4,Ace), it will change its direction so you could then put a 9 or something on it.

Jokers do a couple things. When played against a numbered card(2-10) it removes all other similar cards from the table. If you put it on a 5 then all other 5's on the table get thrown away.
If you put a Joker on an Ace then it removes all non-face cards from that Ace's suit.

Tried playing caravan with my new soldier character, made to do the gambling trophies and hopefully the caravan one. Poor, poor, Zaldrek Mirai. :(

And I have no freaking clue how the hell you play it.

Nothing about it makes any sense.
I get blackjack, that makes sense.

But caravan is mangled solitaire, meets butchered blackjack, meets some other poor game.

I threw 10s, 9s and 7s at it. Lasted a bit longer than before.

Can someone please explain in simple terms, what the hell you are supposed to do!
WTH is with the values changing on some cards, FFS!

Are you supposed to build stacks bigger than the opponent, and it kills their stack? Steal their stack? Keep going till they run out of cards?

Can someone just explain it, please. Very simply.

Think of the three rows as caravans and you're biding on them. You bid on them by placing cards on them. A valid bid has to between 21 and 26, which is I'm guessing why people are suggesting stacking your deck with 10's,9's and 7's.

In case you haven't seen them, the rules for the game are http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Caravan_(game).

the goal is to get three stacks that equal 26. you can only stack cards in one direction (ascending or descending). so if you place a 5, then a 6, the next card has to be a 7 or higher (or vice versa for descending).

as mentioned, the easiest way is to stack your deck with 10, 9, 7. i use 8's and kings also as i typically don't hunt for cards, so i have to flesh out my deck. queens and jacks are useful to prevent your opponent from getting 26. my deck is K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7.

ringo is the lowest level caravan player and can be played against infinite number of times (merchants that play caravan are limited to five rounds).

get the deck from ringo at the start of the game. play adn collect cards. go to crimson caravan. stack your deck properly and in about 20 minutes you have win 30 caravan games trophy.

it's actually very easy to play, but the game doesn't explain it in the easiest terms. i used the vault to learn, they explain it much better there. dedicate five minutes to learn, and you'll be a caravan pro in no time.

I don't use any method. I just know the rules and play the game. I also hit Randomize Deck before every game.

That actually made some sense to me, lol.

So the stacks, you get them to the point they can't go higher, or something?

Get it to 26 or between 21 ans 26, the others got no more, you're higher, you win? Then they disapear and you start again? Is 26 the desired number that wins every time?
Yes, I know they disapear at points.

How does it stack up, they count the ones you made, took from the other player?
Is there like a list of all the stacks you took, and it stops when they run out or lose?

Are you meant to steal the others stack? It lets you, so I assume you can. But as it's the stupidest thing I ever saw anyone criminally waste 2 trophies on, you never know.

If it was like blackjack, you have a hand, place a bet, your hand is right, you win, I would get it!
But caravan does'nt even have something as logical as bet money, have right hand, win.

Imagine that you're placing bids on caravans, your bid can only be between 21 and 26. Getting one of your bids to 26 doesn't mean you win the game because you also have to bid on the other caravans.

Cards can only disappear a few ways. You can completely remove one of your bids(if they put too man Kings on one of your cards for you to remove it), you can use a Jack to remove a single card or you can use a Joker to remove a certain type of card(its explained in the place that I linked to earlier in the thread).

I still don't understand this game. Like, at all. Don't know why it's green or red, don't know why I have to put a certain card on a certain caravan. You get the idea. I always kinda assumed that the devs had caravan instead of poker because poker was too complex, but if they went out of their way to invent such a complex game...

I have no idea what you are talking about at the start of it, before this, when you talk of bids.
The rules are nonsensical.

I need really,really simple.
Like put card here, steal stack.
Put card, make stack.

I have no time or patience to mess around imagoning carvans in the worlds stupidest card game.

I don't think they were avoiding poker levels of complexity at all. Pokers been around a while, it probabely makes sense, to a point.
If they wanted to avoid complex, why not just use blackjack.

Caravan is them being stupid. They thought they'd be clever, and tortured some other card games, and made a game that makes absolutely zero sense, in any way at all.
It was a incredibley stupid thing to do and a complete and utter waste of trophies.

I actually really like playing Caravan and I have beaten every player in the wasteland at least once while clicking randomize before every game, No-Bark was the hardest.

I so far fail to see the point of trying to teach you since you seem to have nothing but contempt for this game. Are all things that you don't understand automatically stupid?

Hey, I'm going for a Platinum too! Currently at 92%, getting closer

I got the Caravan one a few months ago. Like everyone has said - 7 + 10 + 9 = 26, this is the key to victory.

I used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkqdGuJFuuk, its really good and served me well. Good luck.

BTW i only have the pick pocketing trophy left so can anyone tell me how to get it fast? cuz i dont even pick pocket in my normal playthrouugh, like at all.
