Need help choosing a faction based on morals.

Ok, so I got this game the day it came out, and I have not beaten it yet.

I'd mess up my character and start over, or think up something new, and start over, I have played through this game, and the DLC Dead Money so many times that it's not even funny.

Soon my live status on xbox will be running out, and I plan to go back to new vegas until I can renew it. (Been playing Dark Souls)

Now, with my last playthrough I had a rough time choosing which faction my character would join up with. I was leaning in the end more towards Yes Man, but eventually stopped playing once I got Skyrim, and then Dark Souls.

Now I'm looking for opinions here, and so I'll give you a rundown on my character.

"Ranger" type character in means of high Survival Skills, Proficient with nearly all kinds of small firearms (Revolvers, and Rifles mainly), but doesn't mind getting up close and personal when things have to get dirty. (Good in all forms of hand-to-hand combat.)

He is a loner, very little in the ways of friends, and not a very charismatic person. Having grown up in the wasteland, he has some very big trust issues. Trusting only those he has to, but hates having to rely on others when things get tough. Those he does trust, he is extremely loyal to.

All-around good natured, hating both corruption and "bad" people. He will never bribe another person, and doesn't take kindly to people who try to buy him. He will help other people out if he feels strongly about the situation they are in, or the problems they are facing. He doesn't mind selling his ability with his guns, but if he doesn't like you or if you give off a bad "vibe" you won't be getting much from him, and if he saw you commiting a crime against another person, he wouldn't even warn you before putting a piece of lead between your eyes. Though altogether, he hates killing people.

Very intelligent, His mother was a merchant in pre-war tech, anything from robots to toasters, if it broke down she could fix it. He grew up helping her out, and had many projects of his own when growing up in the wasteland.

(I have my whole characters backstory, history, and everything in my head, and worked a long time planning him out, this is just a basic summary on his abilities.)

Now, in the shoes of my character I am torn between the three options of the NCR, Mr. House, and Yes Man.

The NCR seems to me corrupt. Mr. House is a dike, and seems to be stuck in a place before the war. He seems to be naive to the thoughts of just how much has changed after it. Yes Man seems more of protecting the people and individuality of New Vegas.

What am I missing, or what have I got wrong, and what is everyone elses opinions on these three choices? What would be the best course of action for my courier who wants the best possible outcome for New Vegas?

I'd say yes man ... simply because it allows 'you' to decide the fates of all the smaller factions, with ncr or legion a lot of those decisions are made for you. House would be a second option if you don't see yourself as the leader type

Wow. I only bought NV when the Ultimate Edition when it became available, but here's my 2 cents:

The Legion- They will bring fairly instant safety against raiders and dangerous wildlife, but their "citizens&" have little to no liberties. People speaking out or protesting the government would be killed.

The NCR- They are bogged down with bureaucracy and special interests, and tax their citizens. The Mojave currently has Raiders and dangerous wildlife, but after the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam they would be dealt with.

House- He will insure that the strip is prosperous, but doesn't care for the outlying inhabitants.

Independent- Hard to tell. The strip will be what the courier makes of it. The Mojave, who knows.

I feel inclined to support the NCR. They are kind of corrupt, but the politicians can be voted out. Once the Legion is dealt with the NCR can deal with the other dangers of the Mojave, making the taxes worth-while.

I say choose with your heart if you aren't roleplaying.

But since it seems you are roleplaying I would suggest the independent route. You know, since he has trust issues and doesn't seem too fond of corruption.

Choosing with your heart is still a good option when role-playing. I've started characters where I didn't know which side he/she was ultimately going to side with. Just play along, listen to all the factions, do what you think your character would do. If you're still unsure, walk the Lonesome Road and listen to what Ulysses has to say.

it sounds to me like you would prosper with the NCR, sure they are corrupt and polluted at the higher levels, but on the soldier level you could easily find it suiting your intent, hell, you may even make it to a commanding position, where you can actually ensure the qualities you have are encouraged amongst all your men.

My biggest issue with NCR is that they are trying to build the post-war America up into its' pre-war self. Eventually they'll conquer all of North America, possibly Canada, Mexico, and South America as well. My only question is, Why are they doing this when it obviously didn't work out the first time around? Humanity was pretty much destroyed in a Nuclear Holocaust. What happens when NCR takes over the whole American continent, build ships and try to find Europe or Africa? Maybe Asia? And due to the amount of time passed and the survivors on this Continent from the Great War, you would have to imagine that people would have survived on other continents and I highly doubt they've been doing nothing for the past 200 years. Eventually we'll just have the same war all over again, and judging from how many nukes survived the Great War (Look at FO3 Fort Constantine) it'll just be the same [censored] on a different day. =/

Though on a more serious note, I can't wait for a FO that takes place on a different Continent. I would love to see what actually happened over in Russia, China, or Europe.
