Need help creating a vampire build.

I want to make a character and model him (or her not sure yet) off of the vampires that you meet in game. What races and skills should I use? I mean here's what I've got so far.

Destruction

conjuration

Illusion

light armor

sneak

one handed.

Do you think this would be spreading my perks too thin? What would you suggest?

6 Skills? No, you can make a very concise build with that. For example, you probably won't need to perk a whole lot of Light Armor, or Destruction, and One Handed comes with its own specializations.

When you say Vampires in the game do you mean the Vanilla ones who are called Volkihar but are just copy-pasted Cyrodill Vampires or do you mean the Pureblood's from the Dawnguard DLC?

This is where I'm at with it as well.

Illusion is pretty much an "all-or-nothing" skill tree, pending the type of spell(s) focused on from that school. The left side of the Sneak tree can be avoided all together, as those perks can be duplicated or mimicked.

Your skill choices are rather solid. The Illusion / Conjuration duo alone, will arguably make yourself one of the most powerful characters the game can produce.

I think you need to add at least one crafting skill to your list, maybe smithing for your armour and weapons.

To match the Vampires in the Vanilla game called Volkihar you really just build off of their bonuses. What it gives you is essentially an Illusionist Stealth character which is a shame considering that Vampire NPCs in Oblivion were a variety of classes while those in Skyrim are all the same class. Anyways that build would be along the lines of:

Illusion

Sneak

Destruction (Frost Magic)

1-Handed (Any old sword or axe)

Conjuration (raise dead)

However if you want to make a lore-true Volkihar character i have that one perfected so lemme know

I'd say do some thing like M3/H1/S0 for stats, and pour perks into Illusion and Conjuration (maybe boosted with training if you need it). Illusion, particularly once you get muffle, will help Sneak level organically, and you can rely 50/50 on Conjuration and One Handed for damage, and perk them maybe a little later on.
