Need Help Deciding on leveling towards "Local Leader&#34

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 12:52 pm

I'm level 19 right now, with Charisma of 2...

I'm starting to do more with my settlements, but I'm finding I really need those dang supply lines.. Is that small part worth attributing the next 5 levels towards Charisma to unlock it? I'm on Survival and have 0 points in health, damage resistance, or any of the +20% damage with this weapon options.

So, I can either start getting stronger, or go the next 5 for Local Leader.

Opinions? Is it worth it; or is it really just a secondary feature that adds no real value... Since I can just fast travel to Home.

The Local Leader perk has two main benefits: you can share items stored in the workshop between settlements, and you can build new and important things such as merchant stands to get possibly better items (which could give you the edge in combat that you seek) - it's a tough call to make, since some combat perks help a lot, so perhaps get a couple of perks for combat and then work on that charisma so you can survive, because ultimately sharing items across settlements is just really convenient at best and the star-ranked items that settlement merchants sell when they move in might still be available from traveling and city merchants anyway.

I was in the same situation as you (well char 1 I think). It's meh, it is convienient to have supply lines but not needed.

Even with only a couple of my perks (I'm lvl 27) being in anything combat related (most have gone to special or lockpicking, finding ammo, crafting etc) I find I still do fine so it depends how heavy you want to get into settlement building

It's worth it if you are going to be building across multiple settlement locations.

You can build shops and they earn a small income. And the benefit of sharing junk across locations with the supply lines is invaluable - that, again, assuming you will be building across (and maintaining) multiple settlements.

The value here is determined by you, really. If you aren't really into the settlement thing, this might be a waste for you.

Both of the perks are VERY useful. The second one in particular because theoretically it should give you more shops to sell loot at since most vendors have a limited amount of caps. I find lots of legendary items which I can't dismantle but I can sell for a good amount as I have some perks in barter as well. Also I tend to end up with huge stockpiles of certain materials like steel so I can sell the loot for that instead of dismantling it and just wasting more space. I have enough steel now to completely rebuild the entire city of Boston.

Normally I tend to avoid Charisma perks in these games, aside from Pack Rat in New Vegas, but they are really useful in this game.

i didnt know about these perks until i came into the game.

first time i leveld up and saw them, one of the first things i saw was that charisma now has lots of benefits unlike previous fallout games.

i instantly rerolled with enough charisma to unlock local leader.

i knew then that not having to backtrack to collect supplies etc was going to be a boon.

If you don't plan on devoting yourself to crafting your own items, go ahead. Local Leader is useful for the supplies the settlements provide.
