Railroad - Synth Rescue Quests and Institute - Steal Brotherhood Plans are good Quests.
Why do you want so much caps? I`ve got 2 points in the find more caps perk, bought a couple of really expensive weapons and i currently having more than 36,000 caps. Would be nice to be able to do something with it, though.
This isn't an instant 'get massive amounts of Purified Water fast' setup; it's an over-time thing. Basically, you set up more water than your settlers need. So with Preston Garvey and Co., they need 5 Water, so you would make the Water Purifier, which gives 10 Water. Now, because you're generating water that isn't being used by your Settlers, the excess will start being stored in your Workshop, and you can return every so often to collect it. The longer you play, the more builds up, and the more you can use to buy other things.
not sure what the need for so many caps is, but I have never done any of what others have said untill recently and have had plenty of caps to do most things.
There does seem to be two very different stories coming from people. Some, like myself, are swimming in caps and never have a problem. Others though, are screaming out for every possible way to get some extra.
I don't see how people could not have tons of caps, even before I started the water purifier thing I was never short of caps for general use. Sure, I might see a fancy weapon for thousands of caps that I couldn't afford but never short of ammo or stimpacks.
I have to ask the OP though. What is your charisma at? Do you have any of the following perks. Cap collector, scrounger, fortune finder? Do you wear charisma gear when trading?
Sell 4 of those fatman, and the miniguns. Then buy ammo and stimpacks with the caps. If you are hoarding all of your expensive stuff you will never have caps. Sell everything you won't use, to buy stuff you will, why do you need 5 fatman?
There are piles of old rubber tires at many settlements, scrap them for good amounts of it. To get the water trick to work some people have had to empty the aid inventory from the workbench to get it to work. You take the water from the aid tab of the workbench as well once its flowing.
Not going to judge or anything, but again, hoarding all the crap you don't need, and then wondering why you can't afford stuff you do need, it isn't exactly rocket science.
1. Water purifiers.
2. Farms.
3. Quests, there are a few quests you can get that will net some caps, for example, blood samples and technical documents for the BoS
4. Looting and selling that crap. I am level 50ish, and enemies now have guns worth 500+ A single location can net thousands of caps. Most of my income now is selling loot, in fact, my shops set up in my settlement can't keep up with my loot influx, they run out of caps before I run out of stuff to sell. Now it is stockpiling and I also have 1k+ of purified water I can't get rid of.
It will get easier as you play through the game, you will find better stuff to sell and your settlements will start getting more and more resources, just get through the early game by being frugal with ammo, use powerful semi-auto rather than crappy fully auto guns, use food to heal instead of stimpacks etc..
15000 is a ton though. I know a minigun eats more ammo than a semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, but... say maintain 2-3000 rounds for personal use, then 12-13000 for caps?
Mk, so 10000 rounds for personal use, 5000 caps profit
