Need Help Finding Certain Mods

Post » Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:12 pm

I never thought I would end up actually wanting to mod, but I've been playing Morrowind for over four months now and there are several things that I know I want changed. I've played all of the Elder Scrolls games in the main series and while Oblivion is also moddable, I don't have access to a PC that can handle it, but I do in Morrowind's case. I'm curious to see just what mods can do and I want to make some mods myself, bu right now, I'm looking for a couple of mods for specific reasons. I hate Morrowind/Oblivion style leveling. I like skill increases increasing my level, but I prefer it Daggerfall style, in which my attribute increases don't depend on the skills I increase but rather I'm just given a certain amount of points to distribute freely. Are there any mods that would give me 15 points per level to distribute however I please? Also, the other thing I can't stand are cliffracers. There are far too many and they always seem to get stuck in the air or on a tree. Are there any mods that decrease the number of cliffracers in the game, any that prevent them from getting stuck, or any that eliminate them altogether? In addition to those two, I'm also looking for the unofficial patches. Just in case it may mean anything, the computer I'm using runs on Vista and I can't seem to use the console. This would be my first time modding any Elder Scrolls game. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, are there any mods that make almost all structures appear on my world map as in Oblivion? Perhaps also a mod that lets me place more than one mark at a time?

Type "fillmap" in the console and you'll get all the map markers.

The console doesn't seem to work with Vista.

Can I continue using my current character with all those mods?

Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem is. I have Windows 7 and it works fine. Try googling it.

You need to start a new game with GCD, but its very well worth it. No training nonsensical skills just for x5 bonuses.

Make sure you get most of your mods before you start a new game. You can add them in with Mash later, but it's always just more convenient to have everything fresh for a new game, IMO. At least, mods like GCD certainly need a new game. Things like Tamriel Rebuilt, you can add later.

The readme for GCD says you can start using it mid-game. But you might not like how it resets some of your attributes.

And multiple marks?

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=1397 I used it for awhile but replaced it with a more robust MWSE version.

Of course I also recommend the standard mod stuff as well: Better Bodies, Head Replacer of your choice (Vvardenfell Visages is very lore friendly), Texture Replacer (I use Visual Pack), MGE, TR, Better Skies, Vurts Trees, etc.

@ john.moonsugar

Really? I didn't know that, but yeah it can change things mid game, the system it uses might change things drastically, it's a good idea for a new game IMO.

What do you mean?

Well, it's going to recalculate your attributes based on your skills, and you might not like the results. Or were you asking about the other part?

Graphics-related mods might not be a good idea for the PC I'm using. I'm not sure it can handle much more.

Section 9 of the readme
(9) Functionality / Compatibility

This version of GCD:

Depends only on Morrowind does not require Tribunal / Bloodmoon, but is compatible with both expansions.

Is compatible with any Race mod (unless the mod does very odd things with scripts).
Is compatible with any Birthsign mod, although it might not always be well balanced.

Now works on saved games started without GCD....

No, I was asking about that part, but it wouldn't change it to be different than what it would be on an identical character that was made after installing that mod, right?

Section 9 of the readme

Whoops, missed that :P I read the readme though I promise.

But yeah, I can vouch for GCD being an awesome mod. It does seem to nerf fighters just a bit though.

@Seti, I'd at least recommend BB and a Headpack, they will have no hit on your FPS :P The others probably will but if you can run OB on your computer, you'd be fine running MGE on decent settings.

I don't think so. But maybe the answer is yes, if you factor in how differently your character will develop while using GCD.
I would just keep a copy of your last pre-GCD save to revert to if you find you don't like how it works out adding it to a running game.

I can't run Oblivion on my computer. Two more months and I can fix its problems after two years of putting up with them, starting with its leveling system, its level-scaling system, and its unique items scaling system.

When will Bethesda learn to stop with the leveling system being affected by multipliers? I hate it.

Anyway, while I'm sure it's a good mod, is there anything that just leaves my character as is and just gives me the 15 points per level, instead? I'll install GCD someday, but not until I'm done with my current character. I really don't want to restart him or screw up his existing stats.

http://www.mwmythicmods.com/Gluby/Gluby_CharacterDevelopment_Mods.htm is a good place to get an idea of what's out there.

(Edit: Linora's leveling mod sound like it might be close to what you want).

I just have one more request. Is there anything to cut down on the number of slaughterfish in Morrowind?

Hah. Well, if you think they're annoying, just wait for the constant battles with Cliffracers.

As for a mod for lessening Slaughterfish numbers, there might be but I doubt it since most people avoid the water since, well, there's next to nothing to do in it. If you really have to deal with water, just put Water Walking on your character and run across the top.

I'm at that point. I've got a mod to remove those... things, as well.

I'm trying to find a mod that makes time pass - am interested in understanding how to increment gamehour.

There was a mod that made time pass when you read a book - but I can't find it on PES - and Yacoby's search engine isn't working for me

Does anyone know what the reading mod was called and where it is - also any other mod that forces time to pass

Thanks
