Need help to get around potental game breaking glitch

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:00 pm

ok after 20+hr of going around doing side quests and so on
i finally enter the strip
victor is laying dead on the steps to the lucky 38
suddenly he possesses one of the securatrons and welcomes me to new Vegas and tells me i should go into the lucky 38
then becomes just another normal securatron again
so i enter the lucky 38 and all the robots start attacking me
thinking this is normal I kill them all and go up the elevator
the large council that im guessing Mr House is supposed to contact me through isnt functioning and is saying something like disconnected
so i work my way to find the real Mr House and my only option is to kill him or remove him from his stasis thing he is in all being i guess an evil act

so what happen to what ever was supposed to happen hear and how can i fix it
I refuse to start over just because of a stupid glitch

i even tried a save that was from 10 or so hr ago and same thing happen
im starting to freak out hear
most the bugs i have run into i have found ways around but i cant seem to stop this from happening

This bug is caused by Vault 11, or at least that was one cause. Basically, you failed the quest 'The House Always Wins,1' before you could even get it because of a glitch. If you don't have a save from before you failed this quest (presumably from before you went into Vault 11), you either have to restart, or go into Benny's room at The Tops and meet Yes Man.

Anyone thinking of creating an advice for glitches thread?

I'm in this section because i have the "Can't enter house with legion commander in it at Nelson without freezing Xbox" glitch. It's in the main list of bugs, but no suggestions on how to maybe bypass.

Might as well, because you'll more than likely encounter one of the other many bugs to screw you up after you've started over.

I've come across a couple bugs too.. lucky enough I've got a few saves to backtrack too, but this is getting ridiculous.

I'd have to agree: We're going to need a "glitch solutions" thread.

BTW: not sure if this helps at all, but Victor's personality apparently can move from robot to robot. I discovered that through speech with him. That's why he pops up everywhere.

Talking to Yes Man is not supposed to clear the glitch. Quite simply, you have been locked out of the Mr. House quest line. However, that does not block out all end-game scenarios. If you talk to Yes Man, he should tell you to kill Mr. House and install him into the Lucky 38 instead. So, you will have to fight through the Lucky 38 to get to Mr. House, kill him, then install Yes Man.

Some items that may or may not help (completely untested): From the Freeside North Gate, follow the wall west until you come across H&H Tool Company. H&H was owned by Mr. Houses half-brother who was plotting revenge, so on his desk on the second story of H&H is a Lucky 38 VIP Access card, and on his terminal is an option to disable Lucky 38 security. Like I said, I don't know what those are used for, but they seem like they may help either with talking to Mr. House or killing him.

Also, any patch they put out cannot make you unfail a quest, so don't expect a patch to fix your current game.

Dude, I hear ya. I'm stuck on the same thing. For now, I'm just going to wait it out a while. I hope this will be fixed in one of the numerous patches. :(
