Need help to install Arena.

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 8:16 am

This is the free version of Arena on the website. Says I can't install it because of 64-Bit system. Just start at the beginning, go step by step. Don't skip anything assuming I know crap. The guide in the sticky doesn't work. Please.

Edit

Nevermind, I figured out how.

I have had it working before when I had Windows 7 64-bit, and that was from reading the sticky. Make sure you are downloading the Arena free version from the ES website. Make sure you have the latest DOSbox emulator. Other than that, Freddo's instructions are pretty straight forward:

If that does not work, then I do not know what is making it not install/run for you. Sorry :(

The commands given were incomplete. I needed to enter C C:\ My Chosen Directory

I have almost no experience with command prompt, so those little assumptions can go a long way to making what should be a non issue a problem.

I don't have any experience with command prompts either, and those instructions worked for me. Maybe I did something that made it work and don't remember it, I dont know  Sorry

Got it working, I was telling it to open a.exe not ARENA. Doh! Sound is here, now I just need to find some controls.

A readme file included with it should have the controls. Otherwise you may need to look for a pdf of the manual online somewhere.

Ctrl+F12 to up the cpu cycles.

You could also get http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/ that has an interface to configure dosbox settings that also give each game its own settings file. That way you don't have to keep typing everything when you want to start up the game again.
