Need help Linking my Dungeon to the outside world

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 10:11 pm

I have created my cave and done everything to the letter on the Elder Scrolls Construction Set wiki portal but for some reason I cannot link my dungeon/cave to the outside world. I looked up a topic that was supposed to solve this problem but it did not work. I have put my entrance and door in Tamriel but when I select my cell it does not show any doors to link to. There was one time where everything seemed to be linked correctly but when I went in game the door would not do anything if I tried to enter it. (and yes, I do have my cave mod active on my data files) Please help

1. Double-click on your door in Tamriel worldspace to bring its properties window up. Do NOT close this window.
2. Go to your interior cell you want to link that door to and bring it into view in the render window.
3. Back to the pop-up from #1 above, Click on the Tab called 'Teleport'. Put a check mark in the 'Teleport' box.
4. Click on the button called 'Select Reference in Render Window' and double-click on the door you want to link.
5. Click on the OK button to close the window and the doors are now linked properly.

I tried to do that as well, I designated the reference and adjusted the door markers and even checked the door markers referenced doors and it was fine but when I save my plugin the door marker is gone, the reference info. is messed up and it will not work in game.

Are you loading this existing mod by clicking the button, "Set as Active File"?

You have to make sure that you tick the 'persistent reference' box. If you choose 'select reference in render window' the crosshair should turn white if it is a valid reference, meaning it is a persistent reference.

No, should I be? When I save my mod when it's not an active file the save works. It is just this particular problem where the save seems to not work.

Both doors are persistent references and the crosshair did turn white when I put it over the door, I checked the door markers and the door information and they seemed to be linked correctly. I think the problem right now is either saving or I'm missing a key step.

Ahh! You said your problem! Saving as an active file means you're saving it on the same file. Without an active file, you'd be saving it all as a new file.

Yes. Otherwise you loose all changes from before the session you started.
