Need help "Mages Guild Monopoly" Quest : III

Currently I aspire to become Archmagister of House Telvanni to start all the great Telvanni-Mods like Rise of House Telvanni, Uvirith's Legacy etc. But as the way to become the leader of the house is long and hard I decided to finish the Main Quest inbetween. When it was about time to become Hortator of House Telvanni and I realised I have to kill Gothren I stopped MQ because I wanted to fight Gothren for the titel of Archmagister.

Later Master Aryon gave me the Mages Guild Monopoly-Quest which is not very difficult to accomplish, but...

The game counts the votes when Aryon gives the greeting related to this quest. Anything that causes a different greeting will prevent the game from counting the votes. Once you eliminate the "bad" greeting, Aryon will count the vote upon his next greeting. If this greeting is related to another quest, you should complete that quest before talking to him again.

I can't finish the quest if Aryon greets me with a not quest related greeting. He asks me if I have all the votes to become Telvanni Hortator.

This means I HAVE to kill Gothren and become Telvanni Hortator and then I get the appropriate greeting to finish the quest. :confused:

This is kind of dissatisfying, so I would like to know if there is a workaround. The perfect solution for me would be: getting the right greeting through a console command, recieving the reward from Aryon and finishing the quest and then beeing able to resume the Hortator quest at any different time so I can become Archmagister first...

Is this possible? If not it's a case for a patch in my eyes.

It has been quite a while since I played Telvanni, but I don't remember ever "dueling" Gothren. Iirc, he simply said something to the effect of "Oh no you don't" and attacked. Gothren is the most xenophobic of the Telvanni, and he won't agree to anything you ask him about. He also isn't going to allow you to replace him. The only way to get archmagister or Hortator is to kill Gothren.

If you're using a mod, I have no idea what you could do to get around it.

I think what he wants is to kill Gothren at a later time. He wants to become Archmagister and return later to kill Gothren. If you go to uesp.net and search for mages guild monopoly it gives you quest stages you can advance to. Not sure which one you want since i havn't done that quest in a long time but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. just advance it past the talking to aryon stage. and continue from there. NOt sure if that will mess anything else up though so maybe wait for comfirmation from someone else.

It's not the fact that I have to kill Gothren. It's the cause he is going to die for. I wanted to rolleplay a Telvanni character and kill Gothren for standing im my way becoming Archmagister and not becuse of the Main Quest.

So it's not a gamebreaking or questbreaking bug, I can finish both quests but not in the order I prefer. It's a immersionbreaking bug I stumbled in and I think this should not happen. I don't use any Mods that would alter this situation. By the way it's not a true rolleplay-experiance to mix the MQ into the Telvanni Quests, I know. Should have stayed true to my House and forget this silly Nerevarinne-thing :sorcerer:

Yes I could give me the last quest entry via console, It should be no problem because I have accomplished all the requirements for this quest. I don't know if I get the reward for finishing the quest from Aryon if I do it this way and if his greeting changes. Maybe I should try if there is no other option...
