I got the amulet from the priest and then talked to the riverwood traders sister and then I went to the temple and given a mission to help out some girl in Ivangrad. I turn up talk to her then talk to her parents then I get a quest update to talk to the boyfriend or some other guy.
I go into the pub to talk to the boyfriend (followed the arrow) and then I didn't get a quest update and I can't talk to the other guy.

The mum and dad have no other speaking options except "What do you sell" and the young couple im helping is no where to be seen. Any idea's?

EDIT: I also checked the temple and they are not there.

Are you trying to marry the riverwood trader's sister? If so, then you have to get the Golden Claw quest from the riverwood trader and complete that.

ah ive encountered this before i dont want to say load a save (you wouldnt be here asking this were it that easy) but try looking in the field were the girl farms, if not try riften the market area

Been there done that its the only way to get the marriage option from her to start all of this.
