I NEED HELP! Possible Boethiah Calling bug?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:49 am

I am playing on the PS3...

I've now tried 2 different followers (Aela and a Dark Brotherhood Initiate). I am NOT standing near the Pillar of Sacrifice. I choose the "I need you to do something" option from my follower. I then take their icon and click on the "Use Pillar of Sacrifice" open. They will not become trapped on it, is this a bug or am I fundamentally doing something wrong? Do I need to be standing in a very specific spot when I give them the order to trigger it?

I will be VERY pissed if I cannot get my Platinum trophy because of a bug that should have been addressed in the first FOUR patches of this game!

Has anyone else experienced this issue on the PS3 with this quest? (It happened to me on the first playthrough too). I have completed the main storyline, if that helps or hurts my cause.

It's not a bug, just a very unfortunate choice of sacrifice candidates.

Aela is essential (unless you marry her) and as such she cannot be sacrificed. For some reason DB Initiates can't be used in this quest either.

You just need to find someone else :) Remember to make sure they aren't essential.

This should probably be in Spoilers, but when I hit level 30 for this quest I plan on using
Spoiler
Cosnach, a drunk in Markarth you brawl with. not essential, not tied to any quests. Perfect candidate.
All glory to Boethiah.

Essential followers cannot be used; Aela is essential if you're finding a totem of Hircine, and the initiates are essential as well, for some reason.

I appreciate EVERYONE's help on this, I dragged someone out of the Pub at Whiterun and it finally worked! LOL

Now I'm stuck on two other ones, both in Markath:

- The first one is supposed to have 2 guys arguing outside of an abandoned house. No matter how many times I go in and out of different places, I can't find them, so I can't enter the house and complete the quest.- The second one is at Langsspur (sp). You're supposed to help them kill a giant (which I did, without hitting any Orcs), and then talk to a certain person. I can't find that person, and the leader (who's allegedly cursed) is always inside the main building with 4 other Orcs.

I verified I had not completed either of these Daedric Quests.

My question is, for trophy purposes, can you complete these over multiple save games to get the trophy? In a previous game (which I stupidly overwrote when I wanted to start over and use my perks move effectively, SUCH a noob thing to do LOL), I DID complete these 2 that I can't seem to start now. If that's the case, it's not nearly as huge a deal.

This should probably be on the spoilers forum, but here's what to look for:

Spoiler

- Look for Vigilant Tyrannus (spelling?). He only argues with another guy the first time you see him. Otherwise he just hangs around outside the house.
- Look on the walls of the fort for the only Orc wearing hooded mage robes.
