i just got the dragon call and right now i'm with the jarl on the dragon's reach great porch, i've repeatily used dragon call but nothing happens??

is this a bug or have i done something wrong??

and i did put dragon call on favorites in case it's a bug but that didn't help.

Are you using all the words? Try reloading a save before you entered.

i found out i was at fault, i wasn't pressing the z key long enough (i'm playing the pc version of skyrim).

Also make sure you've sent your follower -if you have any- to wait inside the castle. Otherwise, dragging Odhaviing where you want will not be an easy task.

you can't take your follower after you go to the temple with odhaving so i did have j'zargo (my follower) wait at the castle great porch.

Not in the great porch. You need to send him inside Dragonsreach, because the fool will engage the dragon and Odhaviing like a bigger fool (or quite smart in this occasion) will often occupy his time with with your follower, instead of following you.

j'zargo didn't attack the dragon after i trapped him, after i convinced the dragon to take me to the temple i freed him and had j'zargo wait at the great porch, i went to the temple and did what i needed to do and then went to savngarde and killed alduin and returned to whiterun and the great porch and j'zargo was still there waiting for me, so i had him rejoin me.
